This is a project based position on a rotational position, working three weeks on and three weeks off, in Prudhoe Bay, AK. The typical schedule is 84 hours per week (40 hours straight time and a minimum of 44 hours at time and a half). All meals and lodging are provided by Worley while the employee is on location. Transportation between Anchorage and Prudhoe Bay is provided.

Job Purpose:

The HSE Technician role supports a variety of clients within the Operations and Maintenance and Construction groups. The technician will be responsible for all facets of health, safety, and environmental protection for the work groups that it supports. The individual will ensure day to day compliance with all regulatory requirements, client, corporate, and internal procedures, and policies. The HSE Technician is committed to the One-way system of preventing harm to people and assets, and environmental incidents.

All other tasks that are performed by an HSE Technician will be performed in support of this work scope.

Essential Job Functions:

* Respond to and investigate shop and field incidents involving spills (e.g., oil, hydraulic fluid etc.), personnel injury/illness, property damage, vehicle incidents or other incidents that may be warranted.

* Occupational injury and illness case management.

* Conduct incident investigations and write clear and concise reports. Work with Operations partners in developing corrective actions using S.M.A.R.T. system.

* Daily maintain a presence in the shop and field, to include attending morning toolbox and weekly safety meetings at various shop locations.

* Identify areas for HSE improvement or mitigations for hazardous conditions found and suggest and implement corrective actions as appropriate.

* Conduct regular safety audits, worksite inspections.

* Communicate and effectively work to resolve HSE issues and or concerns with shop craft, foremen, supervisors, and the Client (Team Leads and HSE staff).

* Build, grow, and maintain a strong HSE team and Operations partner relationships.

* Prepare and deliver formal training to audiences of varying sizes on various topics related to occupational safety.

* Assist Industrial Hygiene staff with monitoring employee exposure through industrial hygiene surveys and inspections.

* Communicate with shop personnel in understanding their role and HSE requirements in their workplace to include workplace hazards and risks, how their activities and changes affect HSE outcome.

* Participate and encourage Operations partners to participate in behavior base safety program.

* Review Job Hazard Analysis and Field Level Risk Assessments are accurate and completed.

* Effectively plan, organize, communicate, and monitor progress on tasks and projects as they relate to HSE.

* Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

* Proven competency in the operation of key office software and productivity tools such as: MS Office suite of tools

* Establish direct working relationships and rapport with all levels within the organization.

* Excellent customer service, including developing and improving customer relationships internally and externally.

* Attention to detail and a focus on producing a quality product in a timely manner.

* Knowledge of state/federal safety/health/environmental requirements.

* Possess a clear understanding of industrial hygiene practices and procedures to include use of sound level meters, noise dosimeters and air sampling equipment.

* Ability to manage competing demands; accept, and act upon, criticism and constructive feedback; be adaptable and flexible.

* Excellent time management skills, with the ability to prioritize and execute tasks within specified time periods.

* Ability to demonstrate effective communication skills, both orally and in writing, to ensure success in this position.

* Ability to work in a variety of environments, to include office, repair shops, hot and extreme cold.

Physical Demands/Work Environment:


Work is performed in a remote Arctic environment with limited medical resources. Candidate understands the site is approximately 840 miles (at least 4 hours by air ambulance) from surgical, specialist, and tertiary medical care, and where medical evacuation from this location may be significantly delayed due to weather conditions. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the essential functions of this job, the employee is required to:

* Must have ability to stand, walk on level, uneven and slippery surfaces, sit, squat, kneel, crawl, reach through low and high ranges, work overhead, and exhibit normal balance and coordination. These basic physical requirements are essential for safe performance of the job in harsh environments with exposure to very cold temperatures and while wearing arctic gear.

* Standing for prolonged periods of time.

* Driving for prolonged periods of time in the dark and inclement weather

* Ability to climb scaffold, ramps, stairs, equipment, portable ladders, and/or wellhouse/tank/facility fixed ladders of 20 feet or greater.

* Ability to wear and utilize fall protection within manufacturer specifications.

* Lift 50 lbs. from floor to waist with two hands.

* Lift 50 lbs. from floor to shoulder with two hands.

* Carry 50 lbs. for 15 feet with two hands.

* Push/pull 60 lbs. sled for 20 feet.

* Push/pull 90 lbs. cart for 20 feet.

Basic Qualifications:

* Associates' degree in a technical field directly related to the position or a minimum of 4 years progressive experience in health and safety oversight.

* CHST/OHST certification, or the ability to obtain one within six months of hiring.

* High School diploma or equivalent (GED).

* Valid driver's license and the ability to be insured by Worley.
