Role Overview:

As an Electrician at Dart Container, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our plant and facility equipment. You will be responsible for maintenance, troubleshooting, and process improvement, working to meet our Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for safety, quality, production, efficiency, and service.

Key Responsibilities:

  • KPI Adherence: Meet and exceed KPIs for safety, quality, production, efficiency, and service.
  • Safety and Compliance: Follow safety protocols and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) to ensure compliance with legal and company standards.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Install, diagnose, maintain, modify, repair, and rebuild complex equipment. Perform preventive maintenance and utilize predictive technologies.
  • Troubleshooting and Analysis: Conduct advanced troubleshooting and root cause analysis. Resolve mechanical and electrical issues, including control systems.
  • Process Improvement: Lead and support process improvement initiatives. Recommend and implement changes to enhance efficiency.
  • Documentation and Compliance: Maintain accurate documentation of repairs, parts inventory, and maintenance logs. Use SAP Preventive Maintenance (PM) and Work Order processes.
  • Technical Support: Assist in production line setups and changeovers. Operate tools, equipment, and machinery, including powered industrial trucks and cranes.
  • Team Collaboration: Communicate with operators to identify issues, train other mechanics, and fill in for the Lead Maintenance Mechanic as needed.

Core Skills and Qualifications:

The ideal candidate must possess all of the following:

  • Seven (7) years of experience in diagnosing and repairing electrical equipment or machinery, or comparable experience with trade school or training
  • High School diploma or equivalent required
  • Ability to read, write, interpret and draw wiring diagrams, schematics and blueprints and analytical diagnosis of problems
  • Understanding of electrical laws and principals (KVL, Ohm's Law, Power Law, etc.)
  • Thorough understanding of National Electrical Code (NEC)
  • Expert knowledge of electrical, pneumatics, hydraulics, and temperature and pressure gauges
  • Advanced knowledge of industrial controls and instrumentation
  • Advanced mechanical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot complex problems
  • Ability to make changes to Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) using advanced ladder logic, read/write wiring diagrams, schematics and blueprints, and analytical diagnosis of problems
  • Ability to originate instruction documents that can be used by other technicians to perform preventive maintenance or verify electrical system operation.
  • Math skills to include addition, subtraction, multiplication and division, and algebra
  • Familiar with and ability to convert decimals to fractions or vice versa
  • Familiar with and ability to convert units (imperial to SI, etc.)
  • Must have an understanding of microprocessor hardware and software configurations and be able to perform complex analog and digital circuit design
  • Prior experience using software for Preventive Maintenance (PM) and work orders, SAP preferred
  • Know how to use Multi-meter, scope, basic hand tools, and portable power tools
  • Ability to obtain and maintain powered industrial truck (PIT) license
  • Demonstration of minimum proficiency with the English language in order to ensure effective new hire training and on-going communications about safety and quality issues

Preferred Skills and Qualifications:

  • Associates Degree in Electronics Technology
  • Apprenticeship training or equivalent electrical trade school
  • Prior PIT experience
