Inside the Role

Install, maintain, and repair electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures. Ensure that work is in accordance with relevant codes. May install or service process or facilities equipment for the manufacture of school buses

Skilled Trades position offers pay up to of $38.37/hr.

Pay offered dependent on knowledge, skills, and experience

What You Drive at DTNA

  • Assemble, install, test, and maintain electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, appliances, apparatus, and fixtures, using hand tools and power tools.
  • Diagnose malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and components, using test equipment and hand tools, to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem.
  • Connect wires to circuit breakers, transformers, or other components.
  • Inspect electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair, and to ensure compliance with codes.
  • Test electrical systems and continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures, using testing devices such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, and oscilloscopes, to ensure compatibility and safety of system.
  • Plan layout and installation of electrical wiring, equipment and fixtures, based on job specifications and local codes.
  • Follow blueprints to determine the location of wiring and equipment and to ensure conformance to building and safety codes.
  • Perform all duties to the prescribed standard.

Knowledge You Should Bring

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Previous work-related skill, knowledge, or experience is required
  • One or two years of training involving both on-the-job experience and informal training with experienced workers.
  • Current electrician's license or identification card to meet governmental regulations.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred.

  • Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
  • Installing equipment, machines, wiring, or programs to meet specifications.
  • Understanding written sentences and paragraphs in work related documents
  • Determining causes of operating errors and deciding what to do about it.
  • Determining the kind of tools and equipment needed to do a job.
  • Repairing machines or systems using the needed tools
  • Analyzing information and evaluating results to choose the best solution and solve problems.
  • Using relevant information and individual judgment to determine whether events or processes comply with laws, regulations, or standards.
  • Inspecting equipment, structures, or materials to identify the cause of errors or other problems or defects.
  • Using hands and arms in handling, installing, positioning, moving materials, and manipulating things.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Light to medium effort equal to frequent lifting or moving lightweight materials
  • Regularly required to sit or stand, bend at the waist and reach knee to head height
  • Regularly required to kneel or crouch
  • Use hands and arms in handling, installing, positioning, and moving materials, and manipulating things
  • Regularly quickly move hands, hand and arm coordination, or two hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble objects.
  • Must be able to keep hand and arm steady while moving one arm or while holding one arm and hand in one position.
  • Required to see details at close range (within a few feet of the observer).
  • Frequent exertion of muscle force repeatedly or continuously over time. This involves muscular endurance and resistance to muscle fatigue.
  • May be required to work at elevated levels on platforms, ladders or aerial lift vehicles.

PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT

  • The use of safety glasses, goggles, or a face shield, safety shoes, and hearing protection is required
  • The use of a respirator, including tight-fitting-seal types, may be required
  • The use of gloves may be required.
  • Knowledge of how to determine and utilize appropriate arch flash equipment.
