JOB SUMMARY
The Talent Planning Manager reports to the Assistant Vice President, Talent Development, and is responsible for developing, delivering, and measuring the effectiveness of Talent Planning activities aimed at identifying high-potential talent for growth and succession, as well as fostering and accelerating their leadership development. In addition, this role also provides oversight for performance management processes, career pathing, and individual development planning for UT Southwestern and its University Hospitals and Clinics.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION
Required



  • Education
    Master's Degree in Industrial/Organizational Psychology, business administration, human resources, or related field


  • Experience
    5 years to 8 years of progressively responsible experience in talent management, succession planning, organizational development, or leadership development, including preferably experience in large corporate organizations, healthcare or university environment, or equivalent experience

    PhD


  • Experience
    3 years of people management experience


  • Licenses and Certifications
    ICF-certified coach Upon Hire


JOB DUTIES




    • Manages and coordinates activities for the Talent Planning function including talent planning, succession, bench planning, career pathing and performance management.
    • Develops scalable talent planning approaches and tools to identify competency, knowledge and talent gaps and collaborates with colleagues to develop and deliver specific solutions and programs to build leadership pipeline.
    • Organizes and facilitates calibration and talent planning discussions with key stakeholders, displaying functional competence, executive presence and organizational savvy.
    • Conducts data and metrics-based organizational assessments to determine needs and priorities for development initiatives, especially related to accelerating leadership and professional development and bench strength.
    • Establishes a robust individual development planning approach and tool.
    • Incorporates talent planning data into robust and relevant individual development plans to prepare identified employees for more significant or critical responsibilities.
    • Mines individual development planning data for themes to drive organizational talent development efforts and program development.
    • Partners with compensation to build and communicate career paths / lattices to foster growth and development, engagement and retention.
    • Establishes career development approach and provides career coaching and consultation to employees based on organizational and individual needs.
    • Oversees the development and implementation of user-friendly performance evaluation processes, peer feedback, and onboarding performance assessments.
    • Leads adoption of performance calibration processes across the institution to ensure a pay-for-performance system and culture.
    • Provides individual, team and departmental consulting in areas such as organizational structure, change management, leadership development and team building.
    • Regularly evaluates impact of programs and initiatives, using corollary and feedback/review data and flexibly designs and delivers enhanced offerings based on changing organizational, team and individual needs.
    • Maintains up-to-date knowledge of best practices in talent planning, succession management, career pathing and performance management in the industry.
    • Responsible for design, execution and effectiveness of a system of internal controls, which provides reasonable assurance that operations are effective and efficient, assets are safeguarded and financial information is reliable.
    • Ensures compliance with applicable laws, regulations, policies and procedures.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.
