Surgical Assistant- Certified C- SA

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

1. Clinical Education and Training specific to performing duties as a Certified Surgical Assistant, C-SA or Certified Surgical First Assistant, C-SFA

2. The Certified Surgical Assistant, C-SA or Certified Surgical First Assistant, CSFA must have graduated from a program approved by the Commission for the Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP); or successfully completed a dedicated training program for Surgical Assistants in the armed forces; or demonstrated to the satisfaction of the Board of Surgical Assistants if fulltime work in the United States under the direct supervision of a physician licensed in the United States and consisting of at least 1300 hours of performance as a Surgical Assistant within the 3 years preceding the date of application The Certified Surgical Assistant, C-SA or Certified Surgical First Assistant, C-SFA must have had successful completion of the National Surgical Assistant Association's (NSAA's) exam or National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting exam. The Certified Surgical Assistant, C-SA or Certified Surgical First Assistant, C-SFA must provide documentation of certification or recertification by one of the following: a. National Surgical Assistant Association; or b. National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting, NBSTSA c. The American Board of Surgical Assistants.

3. They must also complete appropriate continuing medical education in order to maintain certification.

4. Maintenance of licensure with the District of Columbia, to be renewed every 2 years. This will include proof of completion during the two-year (2) period preceding the date of the license expires approved continuing education units (CEU) consisting of fifty (50) hours of CEU credit.

5. BLS required; to be renewed every 2 years.

6. At least one year as a practicing Surgical Assistant.

Salary Range: Minimum 42.03 per hour - Maximum 55.68 per hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility.

In cases where the range is displayed as a $0 amount, salary discussions will occur during candidate screening calls, before any subsequent compensation discussion is held between the candidate and any hiring authority.
