POSITION SUMMARY:

The Registered Respiratory Therapist Tracheostomy/Ventilator Coordinator provides specialized, patient-centered respiratory care for tracheostomy patients, supporting both inpatient and outpatient needs. Acting as an expert resource, they collaborate with the interprofessional team to assess, plan, and coordinate care from consultation through discharge and beyond. They ensure patients and caregivers receive essential education for a smooth transition to home or other post-hospital environments.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:





  • Patient and Family Education: Coordinates and provides education for new and existing tracheostomy and ventilator patients and their families.



  • Interdisciplinary Coordination: Collaborates with the medical team, case management, and social work to plan respiratory care needs and ensure high-quality outcomes.



  • Resource and Consultant Role: Acts as a consultant for clinical staff, coordinating care, leading tracheostomy rounds, and ensuring necessary tracheostomy supplies are available.



  • Data Collection and Quality Improvement: Collects data for tracheostomy-related quality initiatives, participates in research, and contributes to policy and protocol development for tracheostomy care.





QUALIFICATIONS:




  • Bachelor's Degree Required
  • Current Florida Respiratory Therapist Licensure, current Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC)
  • Graduate of a Registered Respiratory Therapy Program approved by the Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC)
  • Current BLS/PALS certification from the American Heart AssociationCurrent Neonatal/Pediatric Specialist (NPS) credential by the National Board for Respiratory Care



Physical Demands




  • Ability to move freely (e.g., standing, bending, pushing, pulling) and lift up to 50 pounds independently.
  • Exposure to bloodborne pathogens (Category 1).




Work Environment




  • Frequent contact with sharp objects and instruments.
  • Occasional exposure to mechanical parts, fumes, chemicals, electrical risks, and communicable diseases.
  • Potential contact with aggressive patients.
  • Requires manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination for patient care tasks.



Salary Range: Minimum 29.74 per hour - Maximum 47.58 per hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility.

In cases where the range is displayed as a $0 amount, salary discussions will occur during candidate screening calls, before any subsequent compensation discussion is held between the candidate and any hiring authority.
