Assistant Director of Transfer Recruitment Salary range $47,000 - $58,000 depending on qualifications and experience
Position Summary: The Office of Admissions at the University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) invites applications for the position of Assistant Director of Transfer Recruitment. This is a full-time (1.0 FTE), 12-month annually renewable P&A position.
This position is responsible for the recruitment of prospective transfer students to the University of Minnesota Duluth through prospective student communication, prospective student & family meetings, community college visits, admissions presentations, and student application file review. Under the supervision of the Interim Director of Admissions, this individual will assist in the development, implementation and assessment of a strategic plan for transfer student recruitment strategies. Further, this individual will provide fellow admissions personnel with training and mentorship in the evaluation of transfer credit. This individual will be a key member of the transfer student support process, collaborating with the Office of the Registrar, collegiate advising partners, and the Bulldog Resource Center. The Assistant Director of Transfer Recruitment is responsible for assisting students in the application process and providing support for students in their transition to UMD.

Position Duties:
40% RECRUITMENT TERRITORY MANAGEMENT AND COORDINATION OF TRANSFER TEAM
- Develop and implement a territory management plan.
- Meet individually (in-person and virtually) with prospective students to discuss transfer admissions, transfer credits, etc., and answer questions about the process of transferring to the University of Minnesota Duluth.
- Evaluate academic and other credentials for admission decisions and counseling purposes.
- Maintain contact with prospective students through phone, e-mail, and personal contact on & off-campus.
- Encourage applications for admission and follow-up with students to confirm enrollment.
- Plan and schedule visits to community colleges, attend transfer recruitment fairs, primarily in Minnesota and Wisconsin, to include occasional overnight, nights and weekends.
- Be an advocate for prospective students for the transfer of college credit.
- Review and evaluate transfer credit prior to a student applying for admission, as requested.
- Review transfer student applications and make admission recommendations based on academic and program choice compatibility and follow up with applicants as necessary.
- Utilize Slate (Customer Relations Management Software) to maintain prospective student data and to document recruitment efforts.
- Help facilitate transfer group visits on campus, including presentations and individualized meetings.
- Participate in on-campus Admissions events, which may include some evenings and weekends.
- Execute evening calling campaigns aimed at prospective students.
25% COORDINATION OF TRANSFER INITIATIVES, DATA, AND REPORTING
- Responsible for planning, managing, and implementing a recruitment program designed to encourage prospective transfer students to apply and enroll at UMD;
- Mentor and coordinate the outreach and recruitment efforts of the admissions transfer team in collaboration with the Enrollment Management Marketing and Communication (EMMC) Team;
- Collaborate with the Office of Admission application processors to ensure students have completed their applications for admission and provided all supporting documentation.
- Train Admissions office staff on using Transferology and other transfer tools within the guidelines given by the Office of the Registrar. Update staff on any new transfer and test credit policies.
- Serve on campus transfer working groups like the Transfer Advocacy and Support Collaborative (TASC) and relay information to the transfer team.
- Assess recruitment efforts and results to determine effectiveness.
- Monitor student behavior trends and adjust territory management as appropriate.
- Collaborate with the Office of the Registrar to ensure the accuracy of incoming student records.
- Collaborate with collegiate unit advising offices to ensure incoming student records are accurate prior to Orientation sessions.
- Work with the Office of Admissions application processing unit to ensure timely evaluation of AP, IB, CLEP, and DTTS test credits for all students.
- Create and maintain procedural documentation pertaining to transfer student recruitment and transfer credit evaluation.
- Notify students of decisions pertaining to the transfer of academic or test credit.
- Respond to and monitor UMD Transferology requests for information and credit evaluation.
15% ADMISSIONS LIAISON FOR THE OFFICE OF THE REGISTRAR AND OTHER CAMPUS PARTNERS:
- Responsible for communication between the Office of the Registrar and the Office of Admissions in matters related to transfer credit.
- Collaborate with the Office of the Registrar to assist and advise prospective transfer students on the transferability of credits and recommendations for courses that will transfer to UMD.
- Collaborate with the Office of the Registrar on transfer and test credit initiatives.
- Liaise and collaborate with collegiate unit offices to assist and serve transfer students
- Establish and maintain effective relationships with external partners such as Community College Advisors. Host an annual Community College partner event.
- Collaborate with the Bulldog Resource Center to ensure a smooth transition to UMD for transfer students, including student transfer orientation support.
- Create and execute events/meetings to strengthen relations between the Office of Admissions, UMD campus partners/departments, and community college representatives.
- Review, assess, and recommend policies/policy revisions that will better serve transfer students with appropriate campus partners and campus leadership.
10% TRANSFER STUDENT CONVERSION AND SUPPORT
- Monitor admitted student progress to ensure a successful transition to UMD.
- In collaboration with UMD's Orientation Program, offer and participate in Transfer Preparation appointments for confirmed students.
- Provide transfer students and families with information and guidance in the process of applying for and interpreting financial aid and scholarship offers.
5% NEW HIGH SCHOOL (NHS) RECRUITMENT
- As assigned, assist with New High School recruitment, including assisting with on-campus events and presentations.
- Assist NHS Counselors in providing NHS students and families with transfer credit evaluations.
5% OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED

Qualifications
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- BA/BS degree plus 4 years of relevant experience or
- Master's degree plus at least two years of relevant experience.
- Valid driver's license and the ability to travel regionally, sometimes overnight, for extended periods of time
PREFERRED QUALIFICATION
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution (BA/BS) in the fields of psychology/counseling, communication, education, marketing, or related fields
- MA/MS degree in counseling, student development, student affairs, business/marketing, education, or related fields
- Experience working with transfer students and/or transfer credit
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment
- Experience mentoring peers and serving as project/program lead within a department
- Experience with program and event development and management
- Experience advising high school and/or college-aged students about academic decisions and success
- Ability to develop, implement, and evaluate recruiting plans
- Ability and experience analyzing and using data to guide work
- A demonstrable commitment to promoting and enhancing diversity
