Job Summary
Fraternity & Sorority Life ( FSL) at UT Dallas is young, refreshing, and entrepreneurial. The Assistant Director of Fraternity & Sorority Life is a valuable member of the FSL team who works closely with the Director of Fraternity & Sorority Life in planning all aspects of the fraternity/sorority experience for the UT Dallas Fraternity & Sorority Community of approximately 1,000 students in 26 organizations and 4 governing councils ( CPC, IFC, MGC, NPHC).

The main objective of the Assistant Director of Fraternity and Sorority Life is to provide support, programming resources, and marketing initiatives for students in the FSL community. The overall expectation for the position is to advise the governing councils, develop meaningful programming, and assist students in the promotion of personal development opportunities offered by the fraternal experience. Another expectation is for the Assistant Director to collaborate and build relationships with the many stakeholders that are involved in the Fraternity and Sorority Life community.
Minimum Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree required with a minimum of three years experience advising fraternal organizations or student activities. Knowledge of Greek organizations and council systems; university experience; strong verbal & written abilities; presentation speaking abilities; event planning & management skills. Three to five years of professional experience in Greek Life or student affairs.
Preferred Education and Experience

  • Master's degree in Higher Education, Student Affairs, Student Development, Counseling, or related discipline
  • Undergraduate membership in a nationally recognized fraternity or sorority
  • 3-4 years of demonstrated success advising college students, developing student leaders, and advising student organizations
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills as well as conflict-resolution techniques
  • Attention to detail and the ability to multi-task and perform work with a high degree of accuracy over extended periods.
  • Ability to work nights and weekend hours as related to specific programs and services associated with this position and the department
  • Represent FSL at various community and/or university committees and task forces, promoting existing and new opportunities and/or policies
  • Strength in working as one part of a dynamic and motivated team of professionals
  • Commitment to and experience with working with intercultural populations of students
  • Demonstrated success in event planning and management
  • Ability to demonstrate awareness of marketing initiatives or event promotion strategies
  • Ability to interact with colleagues, supervisors, and students face-to-face
  • Ability to learn and put into action the office, division, and university strategic plans


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Advise governing councils, chapters, and student leaders
  • Provide resources for councils, organizations, and members of the community and support councils, chapters, and leaders in their goals and aspirations to better themselves and their organizations
  • Collaborate with advisors, university officials, alumni, and inter/national headquarters staff
  • Conduct educational and developmental opportunities for all students at different levels of organizational involvement and leadership positions
  • Recruit, oversee selection, supervise and train FSL Office student employees
  • Promote inclusivity in all aspects of the fraternity and sorority experience

Physical Demands and Working Conditions
General office conditions with some moving and lifting. Days/M-F: 8am-5pm/Nights and weekends as needed. Work outside of the normal business hours may be required.

Remote Work Statement After the probationary period, this role may be eligible for a hybrid (partly remote/partly in office) work schedule, subject to business need and manager approval. Must be located within the DFW Area and have the ability to be on campus with 24 hours of notice. A UT Dallas Remote Work Agreement will be required within 14 days after approval.
