Description

  • Completes accounting functions in accordance with policies and procedures.
  • Provides back up to the Accounting Supervisor as needed.
  • Assists in the preparation of regulatory reporting, including but not limited to, the NCUA Quarterly report.
  • Assist in the preparation of requests from external auditors and regulators.
  • Maintains investment portfolio accounting entries and records.
  • Assists with Credit Union financials and the annual budget. Prepares and present data to management as requested.
  • Maintain and ensure the accuracy of the general ledger accounts including daily, weekly, and monthly reconciliations functioning as preparer, approver, and/or reviewer as designated.
  • Maintain and ensure the accuracy of the general ledger system and subsystems such as: Fixed Assets, Accounts Payable, and Accrued/Prepaid.
  • Troubleshoot problems that arise, as well as assist with the implementation of new GL accounts.
  • Share the responsibility of month end processes.
  • Responsible for the accounting of the Credit Union's more complex accounting areas.
  • Participates in projects as necessary.
  • Researches and develops procedural changes and work methods to improve departmental productivity.
  • Assists in processing participation loans purchased.
  • Post and reconcile daily general ledger transactions, verifying ending general ledger account balances to reports provided by corresponding data processing systems.
  • Assist with record retention within the department, including routine filing in an efficient and timely manner.
  • Assist the department in gathering specific information and/or preparing special reports.
  • Maintains personal job knowledge and management skill at a level needed to meet requirements of the position.
  • Train employees in all daily/monthly department functions and provide guidance as an accounting resource for team members.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Education
Bachelors of Accounting (preferred)
Experience
Computer proficiency with MS Office, including Word, PowerPoint, Internet, and Email with advanced proficiency in Excel. (required)
5 or more years of financial services experience in a bank or Credit Union with thorough knowledge of financial accounting regulations, principles, and procedures. (required)
CPA certification and investment portfolio experience preferred. (preferred)
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance or equivalent combination of experience and training. Public accounting experience with financial institution clients a plus. (required)
