On a day-to-day basis, the NAQC New Model Validation Engineer II will:
- Validate
Chassis/PT/EL improvements (hardware/software/tuning, etc.) for new vehicle models and provide feedback on deficiencies and recommendations for improvement - Plan
and support validation events of Chassis/PT/EL issues on new Hyundai, Genesis, or Kia vehicles responding to requests from Hyundai Motor Group, sales affiliates, vehicle assembly plants, and sudden increases in warranty claims - Develop
and conduct events or on-site investigations to collect subjective and objective data during driving to identify concerns to perform root cause analysis - Utilize experience of
Chassis/PT/EL Fundamentals including NVH, Steering, Ride & Handling, Brakes, EV System, ADAS, Infotainment, etc. - Utilize experience with vehicle
sensors (LiDAR, radar, etc.), motor-driven steering systems, collision avoidance system, adaptive control, lane departure, tire monitor system, etc. - Utilize shop equipment (tire
balancer/charger, lift, etc.) & demonstrate knowledge of other Chassis/PT/EL engineering test equipment - Plan, lead, and provide support
in collaboration with other groups/affiliates of test plans for the various quality tests done for new models including Ride & Handling, NVH, Flat Spot Testing, and Hot and Cold Weather tests - Prepare and monitor durability
programs conducted by third parties. Includes route planning, segment-specific planning, and maintaining checklists of items to be performed. Make recommendations and report on results to HKMC of durability events and also perform total vehicle tear down - Develop schedules and advise
outsourced companies to ensure all deliverables are met as per contract - Use engineering analysis and
research results for 'lessons learned' on current and future models - Benchmark competitive vehicles to
research differences and improve HMG vehicle systems - Research, procure, and maintain
new technology, tools, and methods for data acquisition or analysis - Conduct vehicle audits for
Hyundai & Kia models during developmental stages and after vehicle launch - Create and present technical and
weekly reports as assigned - Perform
additional projects as assigned
Candidates considered will...
- Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical or electrical engineering
- Have 2-5 Years experience in automotive engineering, preferably Chassis/PT/EL experience strongly desired
- Travel up to 40% of the time, both domestically and internationally
- Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of Quality Assurance and Quality Control principles and practices
- Project management experience preferred
- Valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record
