CNC Machine Operator

Operates special-purpose equipment, conventional (lathe/mill), and/or numerical control (NC) machines for fabricating metallic and nonmetallic parts that meet the high-quality machine standards required within the organization. This is for our 3rd shift position. It is a 4/10-hour position, working Sunday night to Thursday morning.

Essential Functions:



  • Studies blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample parts to find dimensions and tolerances of finished work pieces, sequence of operations, and setup requirements
  • Operate CNC mill, CNC lathe, manual mill, and drill press
  • Set up machinery and ensure all production materials are available
  • Operate Fork Lift
  • Starts and observes machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining and adjusts machine control as required
  • Must be able to select, align, and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines such as mills, lathes, jig borers, grinders, and shapers
  • Must demonstrate a basic to intermediate skill level (indicate part, turn OD's, and qualify ID and OD)
  • Ability to use inspection tools such as micrometers, calipers, CMM, etc
  • Document quality inspections as directed by SOP
  • Maintain cleanliness of equipment and assigned area
  • Assist SHEQ in promoting and monitoring Safety First initiatives and goals as stated in the MR Operational Policy throughout the organization
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds, bend, stretch, and stand for extended periods
  • Will be required to perform other duties as requested, directed, or assigned



Knowledge/Educational Requirements:



  • A High School Diploma or GED is required
  • An Associate of Artsor equivalent from a two-year college or technical school in the machinist trade is a plus
  • Basic computer skills



Experience Requirements:



  • 2-4years of experience working with CNC machines



Competency Requirements:



  • Ability to operate equipment in a safe and controlled manner
  • Ability to follow instructions, both written and oral
  • Must be able to work in an environment with frequently changing temperatures
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Ability to work with minimal guidance
  • Ability to work well with others and as part of a team
