General Summary of Position Assumes Supervisor's duties for the evening shift daily. This includes supervising production and service of patient, cafeteria and catering food service. Insures hospital and department policies and procedures are followed. Cook responsibilities include producing menu items for patient, cafeteria and catering services. May serve cafeteria breakfast and catering events. Maintaining high standards of quality food production and safe food handling. Maintaining a clean and sanitary work area. Primary Duties and Responsibilities Contributes to the achievement of established department goals and objectives and adheres to department policies, procedures, quality standards and safety standards. Complies with governmental and accreditation regulations. Prepares food for patients, cafeteria and catering. Safely operates food service equipment. Practices safe food handling according to department policies and procedures. Produces according to production sheets and records any variance from projected production. Assists in recipe developments and revision. Performs yield studies on new products. Daily cleans and sanitizes work area and equipment. Closes down area at end of workday. Signs off on department close down list. Supervises production of food products for patient, cafeteria and catering service. Serves on the patient tray line. Assures all menu items are stored on the tray line steam table for optimum temperature maintenance and ease of service. Minimum Qualifications Education High School Diploma or GED preferred or equivalent. preferred Experience 1-2 years Experience as cook in large scale cooking operation. required and Formal training in institutional cooking preferred This position has a hiring range of $17.5 - $27.23
