Director of Integrative Services - Simms Mann Center

Description The Director of Integrative Services, under the Center Director's guidance, leads integrative and psychosocial care at the Simms/Mann UCLA Center for Integrative Oncology. This role involves oversight of clinical and administrative services across 20 Hematology/Oncology clinics, including hiring, supervising, and supporting integrative clinicians. Responsible for daily operations, strategic planning, and service development, the Director also manages Nutrition, Chaplaincy, Psychiatry, Group Therapy, and related modalities. This role collaborates with the Administrative Director to coordinate educational programs, support groups, and mind-body classes, and assists in budget and program planning, particularly for the Simms/Mann Center "Studio."
The Director works with the Center Director on policy development and initiatives to enhance care across clinics, and liaises with academic leadership, donors, and stakeholders to expand and promote the Center's integrative care model. They contribute to strategic planning, financial analysis, program development, and expansion efforts, overseeing the Founders Board and Simms Mann Family Foundation events and communications. The role includes guiding patient orientation, providing psychosocial support, supervising support group facilitators, and offering direct support as needed.
Additionally, the Director manages Care Connect documentation, supports training for staff and interns, collaborates on data analysis for program success, and oversees interdisciplinary teams. They work to raise awareness of the Center's mission, engage with UCLA Oncology professionals on patient care training, and ensure culturally sensitive care. The Director embodies professionalism, fosters a supportive team culture, and serves as the primary contact for Integrative Services staff and UCLA Health medical providers.
Salary Range: $112,900.00 - 256,900.00 Annually
Qualifications Required:
  • PhD or PsyD in psychology or related discipline and licensed by the California State Board of Psychology or California Board of Behavioral Sciences
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in integrative care
  • Experience dealing with cancer patients on outpatient basis and facilitating group support for individuals across the cancer trajectory and their loved ones.
  • Knowledge of psychosocial and other rehabilitation related problems that arise in individual with cancer at all phases of their disease and treatments.
  • Knowledge of cancers and their treatments
  • Fluency with DSM-5 diagnostic criteria and ability to assess mental health disorders
  • Ability to formulate assessments of psychosocial needs of individuals with cancer. Ability to put these skills to use.
  • Skills and knowledge to deliver psychosocial interventions in a medical setting.
  • Skills required to facilitate individual, group and family therapy interventions.
  • Knowledge, skill, and ability to work autonomously using specific software programs such as Microsoft Office Suite, Outlook and CareConnect programs
  • Ability to identify referral sources and to provide referrals for economic, psychosocial, financial, and other resources
  • Knowledge and ability to function as a team member, working with multiple disciplines to develop patient groups, services, classes, educational, and other programs
  • Skill in completing and entering patient notes, tracking forms and consultation notes at appropriate intervals into Patient Database/Electronic Medical Chart.
  • Knowledge of bereavement and grief process. Understanding and expertise in providing grief and bereavement specific counseling support to patients and families. Experience providing grief support in a group format
  • Ability to understand the mission of the Simms/Mann UCLA Center for Integrative Oncology and to implement its objectives for the delivery of patient care. Ability and expertise to share mission with larger UCLA health communities
  • Ability to synthesize ideas to solve problems and to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
  • Able to use computers, iPads, UCLA-issued phones and other devices
  • Ability to provide clinical knowledge to less experienced clinicians
  • Demonstrated ability to manage a complex organization with multiple goals.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage an office and associated programs on a day-to-day basis
  • Skill in developing, implementing and administering operational plans and administrative procedures
  • Demonstrated ability to develop budgets, financial planning and analysis, skill in preparing accurate financial reports
  • Skill in negotiating; exchanging ideas, information and opinions with others to formulate reports, programs and/or arrive jointly at decisions, conclusions or solutions
  • Skill and ability to develop job descriptions and other human resource -related documents.
  • Demonstrated ability to write patient/public communications, analytical and administrative reports, policies/procedures, correspondence and other documents, that are clear, concise and appropriate and to oversee their production and distribution.
  • Skill and ability in developing, planning, implementing, and evaluation of Center events, including but not limited to lectures, donor events, fundraising events
  • Ability to interact compassionately and professionally with cancer patients (within appropriate limits and boundaries) and their families
  • Demonstrated organizational skills and ability to work effective and accurately under conditions of heavy workload, frequent interruptions, distractions and deadlines
  • Demonstrated ability to recruit, train and supervise staff, including trainees

Preferred:
  • Experience working as a liaison with inpatient/outpatient units and community agencies
  • Familiar with California End of Life Option Act
  • Demonstrated ability in financial budgeting using Excel, UCLA ledgers, including creation and analysis of financial data and projections
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends for Center's program activities and events on a limited and as-needed basis.
  • Working knowledge of policies and procedures related to administration, business finances, HIPAA/CiCare, etc. in a university medical setting, preferably knowledge of UCLA Medical Center.
