I. Major Responsibilities:
1. Operates Mammography Equipment and performs Mammography Exams; makes a psychological and physical assessment of each patient, making adjustments in the standard imaging procedures and techniques to accommodate patient size, age or condition using universal protocol and sterile techniques as necessary. Demonstrates breast self-examination if required.
2. Records all pertinent breast history from the patient and notes any discomfort or medical complaint which could be of importance to the Radiologist.
3. Adheres to established departmental policies and procedures, and safety control. Accurately documents work in the HIS/RIS/PACS and PEN RAD systems.
4. Assists in other areas/modalities as needed.
5. Cleans and maintains all accessory equipment (i.e., paddles, detectors, work area).
6. Remains abreast of developments in the field of Mammography and maintains all necessary continuing educational units for Mammography. Responsible for Quality Control designated by supervisor.

4. Complies with all health and safety regulations and requirements.

6. Maintains, regular, reliable, and predictable attendance.
7. Performs other similar and related duties as required or directed.

II. Position Qualifications:

License/Certification/Education:
Required:
1. Registration in both Diagnostic Radiology and Mammography by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
2. Licensed by the State of Massachusetts as a mammography technologist.
3. BLS healthcare provider required before completion of 90 day probationary period.

Experience/Skills:
Required:
1. Level of knowledge equivalent to an Associate Degree in Radiologic Technology.

Preferred:
1. Prior experience in the field

Unless certification, licensure or registration is required, an equivalent combination of education and experience which provides proficiency in the areas of responsibility listed in this description may be substituted for the above requirements.

Department-specific competencies and their measurements will be developed and maintained in the individual departments. The competencies will be maintained and attached to the departmental job description. Responsible managers will review competencies with position incumbents.
