General Information:

The Facilities Management's Engineering & Construction Department at James Madison University is seeking applicants for a GIS Coordinator. The successful candidate will assist with maintaining, updating, and expanding the Facilities Geographic Information System (GIS).

Duties and Responsibilities:

The GIS Coordinator will be responsible for a variety of field and office work. Other duties will be assigned as they relate to Facilities efforts to expand the geospatial and asset management programs. Duties include but are not limited to:
*Implementing the Virginia 811 program
*Managing the Utility Staff
*Supervising interns
*Utilizing the GPS equipment to collect utility and infrastructure data to import into a GIS database
*Implementing an enterprise GIS and expanding the online GIS capabilities for mobile devices
*Utilizing of existing AutoCAD drawings and information from engineering site plans for reference in creating GIS data
*Completing special projects as requested such as preparing and giving presentations along with writing reports or narratives on geospatial projects

Qualifications:

*Significant specialized experience in the surveying, mapping and asset management field
*Experience planning, developing, and administering enterprise level Geographic Information Systems
*Extensive experience working with ArcGIS and AutoCAD software programs and GPS mapping equipment. Additional programming knowledge to support web development would be beneficial.
*Experience analyzing GIS data to identify patterns and trends
*Demonstrated project management, supervisory and team management skills. Proven ability to work with multi-disciplined teams.
*Attention to detail, organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities
*Demonstrated self-starter, analytical skills with ability to use strong problem-solving strategic thinking and project coordination skills to organize information
*Excellent communication and teamwork skills; ability to effectively communicate and train others in the use of GIS software
*Experience providing computer support for hardware, and ability to install software as needed
*Experience with utility locating equipment
*Valid driver's license
