These positions are part of a Presidential Strategic Faculty Hiring Initiative supporting a targeted expansion of existing programs in neurosciences at UGA . The University offers abundant opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration with faculty across various basic science and engineering departments, as well as those affiliated with the veterinary teaching hospital and the newly established medical school. Teaching responsibilities will include courses in the general area of cellular/molecular physiology or neuroscience. The ideal candidate will also have a strong interest in academic innovation and a willingness to contribute to the development of new, multidisciplinary degree programs over time. To be eligible for tenure upon appointment, candidates must be appointed as an Associate Professor, have been tenured at a prior institution, and bring a demonstrably national reputation to the institution. Relevant/Preferred Education, Experience, Licensure, and/or Certification Preferred Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies We are seeking candidates with expertise and a strong focus in cellular and molecular neuroscience. Preferred research areas include, but are not limited to: the neurobiology of aging; neuroepigenetics; neurophysiology; cellular and molecular biology of neurons and glia; neuroimmunology; translational neuroscience; synaptic structure and function; and neurodegenerative diseases and disorders. Applicants should have a strong record of teaching and research commensurate with their career stage, including a proven track record of securing significant extramural research funding, and must be on a clear path toward establishing an international reputation. Candidates must demonstrate a strong commitment to mentoring both undergraduate and graduate students, with evidence of excellence in teaching at both levels.
