Chief Engineer/Site Manager - Prevedel Federal Center - Overland, MO

Summary:

The Chief Engineer (CE)/Site Manager position is responsible for all working matters in the operations of the facilities. Must possess experience in the building mechanical operations, supervision of technical personnel and maintenance for buildings of the approximate size, complexity, and characteristics of multi-story office and warehouse buildings. This is a full-time Exempt position.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Acts as the subject matter expert (SME) on all matters pertaining to the maintenance and repair of facilities and installed equipment
  • Provides technical guidance and supervision of the program's technicians and general maintenance workers (GMW)
  • Troubleshoots, diagnoses, and repairs problems with systems.
  • Oversees maintenance and operational checks on mechanical and electrical components of systems.
  • Ensures scheduled Preventive Maintenance is performed and completed as scheduled.
  • Interacts with customers to determine problems and repair requirements.
  • Oversees preventative & corrective maintenance on all types of equipment.


  • Assists the Project Management (PM) in:

    • Setting schedules to ensure appropriate coverage for shifts and assignments.
    • Monitoring work (QC inspections) and taking corrective action as necessary
    • Provides feedback in evaluation of other employees.
    • Advises the PM of work force changes that may affect completion of assigned work.
    • Ensures that completed work documentation is accurate and submitted to the PM in a timely manner


  • Coordinates with vendors and subcontractors by acquiring quotes for the purchase of materials, supplies, equipment and services.
  • Responds to customer (GSA) information requests in a timely and accurate manner
  • Research and order repair parts using an established Purchase Order (PO) system
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as required or requested.



Job Requirements:

The Chief Engineer/Site Manager will direct and coordinate activities of other staff members in performing tasks directly related to operating and maintaining the system or systems. Is required to be skilled in troubleshooting and/or repair of electronic control equipment.


  • Documentation of at least three years of verifiable IBM Tivoli Maximo Asset Management CMMS or similar system.
  • Knowledge of Building Automation System, i.e., Siemens Apogee and Niagara/Tridium or similar system. 5. Education, Diplomas, Licenses, Certificates, et currently held.


Education and/or Experience:

Shall have at a minimum 3 years of experience within the past 5 years of employment demonstrating reference knowledge, skills and ability with mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems that provide an establishment with such services as heat, air-conditioning (cool, humidify, dehumidify, filter, and circulate air), refrigeration, steam or high temperature water or electricity. Minimum requirements for this position include a High School Diploma or GED. Experience in directing operation and maintenance of equipment in a supervisory capacity. Also, must possess verifiable understanding and experience in troubleshooting, repair and replacement of building specific equipment.


COMMUNICATON SKILS

Must have the ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, managers, and staff members. Ability to write reports. Must have the ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, fellow employees, and customers.

REASONING ABILITY

Must be able to read and interpret various information to ensure procedures are followed.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee may occasionally be required to lift more than 75 pounds. The employee must have close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Work environment will require on-call rotation. The employee may be exposed to noise, dirt, dust, grease, machinery with moving parts, irritating chemicals, and occasional cold, heat, and inclement weather. The work may require the use of protective devices, such as masks, goggles, and/or gloves.

A Background Check and Drug Screening will be performed for this position.
