Job Summary

Under the direction of a supervisor this position inspects, tests, installs, maintains, modifies, troubleshoots, and repairs electrical circuits, appliances, systems, fixtures and related electrical controls and devices in compliance with all state and local electrical codes requirements. Acts as a liaison with external electrical service providers, ensures permits are obtained and work is performed in compliance with all regulatory and hospital standards. Performs other duties as required.

Essential Functions
  • Communicates and collaborates with the supervisor, customer, and other trades and sub-contractors to ensure quality, timely, cost-effective maintenance with continuity and coordination of services.

  • Performs expert level electrical work including the assembly, installation, maintenance and repair of conduit, junction boxes, and fixtures of lighting, power, and other electrical systems, according to specifications and electrical codes. Measures, cuts, and installs conduit, wire, and fittings using hand and power tools. Inspects and tests the finished work of other electricians and provides mentoring and work direction as needed.

  • Documents procedures and work completed in an accurate and timely manner.

  • Performs electrical construction work including layout, demolition, and construction of all types of electrical systems.

  • Ensures that all electrical services are provided in accordance with legal specifications, electrical codes, organizational policy, and compliance requirements.

  • Plans and coordinates workflow with other trades and acts as resource related to electrical systems.

  • Follow ICRA/PCRA procedures outlined by Epidemiology.

Qualifications

Required

  • State of Michigan Master Electrical License or City equivalent

  • LIC-Driver's License - STATE_MI State of Michigan

  • 5 years of relevant experience, 2 years of running projects or personnel

  • A level of knowledge normally acquired through completion of a high school diploma or graduation from a trade or vocational school.

  • In-depth knowledge of electrical distribution systems and electrical devices such as controls, switches, starters, transformers, motors, and panel boards.

Preferred

  • Experience in a hospital environment
