RN leadership opportunity at Carilion Roanoke Nursing Director will supervise a multidisciplinary Non-Invasive Cardiovascular team consisting of Sonographers, Nurses, EKG Techs, Clinical Associates, and Clinical Team Leaders. The team provides care in a variety of settings including the following: CRMH, CFMH, Crystal Springs Vascular Lab, Martinsville, and the Pediatric Cardiology Clinic.
Provides leadership for and monitor's operational goals, objectives, and budgets for multiple departments. Responsibilities include planning of budget, monitoring of revenues, patient care indicators and manages operating costs. Responsibilities include ensuring leadership throughput of unit, patient experience rounding, employee rounding for engagement, quality monitoring of unit, planning of budget and managing expenses. Communicates, organizes, prioritizes, leads, facilitates, coaches and problem solves with reporting staff to ensure that goals and objectives are met. (Quality, Patient Experience, Employee Engagement, and Throughput)
Works with other department leaders to carry out new health care services and performance improvement initiatives. Positively and appropriately represents Carilion Clinic at public and professional meetings. May provide direct patient care or assist employees in overall care of patients.
- Responsible for overseeing the day to day operations of assigned department s as they relate to goals and objectives. Organizes, manages and controls departmental functions and resources in a collaborative and participative manner for optimal performance of service. These include: throughput of unit, quality, patient experience, employee engagement, assistance with goals and budget development and stewardship (accountability of budgets/fiscal operations as budget allows)
- May manage multiple departments, as well as designated administrative and support staff to assure cost effectiveness and achievement of goals and budgets.
- Plans the implementation of directives, standard policies and procedures and protocols as approved by Organizational Leadership.
- Plans for Growth, staffing, services, educational opportunities and effective performance improvement in collaboration with Human Resources, utilizes developmental planning to expand employee skills and abilities.
- Provides staff opportunities to develop their maximum potential through professional growth and development including orientation in service programs and effective performance improvement systems.
- Responsible for operational plans and fiscal management including budget development, implementation and monitoring for multiple departments.
- Responsible for supporting the mission and meeting goals and scorecard objectives utilizing a system approach. Aligns work with strategic goals. Responsible for assuring compliance with accrediting and regulatory agencies.
- Coordinates resources to provide adequate staffing for department.
- Monitors and evaluates patient experience.
- Facilitates professional growth and development including the provision or in-service education and an effective performance appraisal process.
- Responsible for implementation and monitoring of department budget and monitoring of expenses.
- Responsible for supporting facility and organization mission, goals and scorecard objectives.
- Creates a safe, comfortable and therapeutic environment for patients and families in accordance with standards and which is respectful of patient's rights.
- Responsible for hiring, mentoring, coaching, disciplining and terminating staff.
- Must possess ability to synthesize data
What We Require:
Education: Graduate of school of professional nursing. BSN Required; Master's preferred.
Experience: Minimum 5 years or equivalent experience in a leadership or management positions in a healthcare environment with a minimum of 3 years clinical and operational expertise.
Licensure/Certifications/Registration: Currently licensed as Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia. AHA BLS-HCP required. May be required to obtain/maintain BLS, ACLS, PALS, NRP based on specific work unit. In Psychiatry and Behavioral Health, de-escalation training must be successfully completed within four months of hire and then maintained going forward. Licensure and/or certification in medical or management related discipline preferred. Certified in specific area of focus a plus.
Other Minimum Qualifications: Demonstrates excellent problem-solving, interpersonal, communication, team leadership, priority setting and work competency skills. Promotes a respectful, inclusive culture of service excellence. In Psychiatry and Behavioral Health must possess ability to appropriately handle/restrain patients who may be disruptive and/or physically violent.
