Your Role

As a Gensler Project Architect, it's your job to lead a team of architects and designers to deliver unparalleled architectural projects. Leverage your industry experience and technical acumen to drive client projects from concept through build.
You have experience in the design and execution of commercial development and have developed communication and team-building skills which have prepared you to manage projects. In this role, you will have opportunities to develop your existing strengths in design and technical coordination while also beginning to directly manage client relationships, leveraging your technical acumen and industry experience to drive client projects from concept through build.

What You Will Do
  • Lead multiple aspects of client, team and project coordination, including full documentation coordination with structural, MEP, lighting, AV, etc.

  • Manage client relationships and team communication

  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of clients' program requirements and standards and policies for completion to share with your project teams

  • Actively lead a range of project team sizes for successful delivery

  • Anticipate and resolve complex technical and design issues with team to produce innovative technical/constructible solutions during document preparation and construction administration

  • Participate in the production of drawings, specifications and construction administration tasks

  • Maintain the project manual and specifications

  • Conduct on-site observations and document site reviews

  • Process submittals/substitution requests during construction and address RFI

  • Interface with building and permitting officials during the permitting and construction phases of the project

  • Lead construction meetings with client and contractor

  • Lead more junior members of staff:motivate and ensure quality of work; ensure clear communication; understand the skills of the team and wider resources within the office

Your Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture
  • 10+ years of experience in a commercial design firm, that must include commercial interiors
  • Licensed Architect; NY State preferred
  • Experience with Revit, Bluebeam Revu, SketchUp, 3dMax, Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator), and MS Office.
  • Working knowledge of building codes, standards, building construction, and building structures
  • Ability to understand how buildings are constructed and to create technical documents that succinctly describe the work to be done

  • Strong leadership, organizational, communication and relationship-management skills

  • Excellent eye for delivering high quality design

  • Ability to understand how interiors are constructed and to create technical documents that succinctly describe the work to be done

  • Desire to develop junior staff

  • Commitment to incorporating a sustainability mindset in all design decision

  • Team player who actively contributes to a collaborative and fun office culture

**The base salary range will be estimated between $106-135k plus bonuses and benefits and contingent on relevant experience.
