POSITION SUMMARY

The Director of Sterile Processing and Supply Chain Director will work closely with perioperative and clinical departmental leadership to ensure successful management of sterile processing and supply chain for surgical equipment and materials for Clements University Hospital Perioperative Services. Perioperative Services manages over 60 ORs and procedure suites and supports several complex service lines to include transplant, neurosurgery, oncology and cardiothoracic surgery. The Director will promote efficient distribution of resources and high levels of service to ensure staff and provider satisfaction while maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements. The Director will work under the Associate Vice President of Perioperative Services.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION

REQUIRED

* Bachelor's degree

* Five (5) years of experience in sterile processing, logistics and supply chain management

* Knowledge of the following standards is required: AAMI, AORN, FDA, TJC, OSHA

PREFERRED

* Master's degree

* Seven (7) years of experience in sterile processing, logistics and supply chain management

* Five (5) Years of progressive leadership experience in healthcare.

* Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD)

* Certified Healthcare Leader (CHL) certification

JOB DUTIES

* Provide oversight and strategic direction for Sterile Processing and Supply Chain promoting efficiency and process improvement strategies for the departments. Develop, implement, and maintain sterilization and inventory protocols and procedures for perioperative services.

* Lead and direct the Sterile Processing team to ensure proper training of staff, processing and sterilization of perioperative materials.

* Lead and direct the Surgical Supply Chain team to ensure processes are in effect for efficient storage and stocking of supplies and implants within Perioperative Services.

* Communicate with departmental and hospital leadership on any issues or changes with the delivery of supply and equipment services. Ensure that expectations are set and maintained with customers and leadership on inventory management and equipment processing.

* Serve as the organizations expert related to decontamination, processing, and sterilization activities. Monitors the functions and has a thorough knowledge of all sterile processing equipment and participates in organization infection control activities as it relates to perioperative services.

* Monitor departmental compliance regarding training and sterilization methods in accordance with all regulatory requirements including, but not limited to, Center for Disease Control (CDC), Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS), The Joint Commission (TJC), and Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA), Association of Perioperative Registered Nurses (AORN).

* Prepare departmental budgets and manage financial performance. Complete projects within defined scope on time and within budget, complying with applicable policies and procedures.

* Manage, monitor and control expenditures and budgets within the departments of Sterile Processing and Supply Chain including salaries, wages, overtime, supplies capital equipment.

* Work with the Value Analysis and Contracts team to ensure delivery of services and key performance metrics from vendors.

* Ensure consistent delivery of services and quality throughout all UT Southwestern perioperative locations.

* Performs other duties as assigned.
