Service Parts Application Engineer

The Parts Application Engineer drives the sales process, working in conjunction with the Field Sales team as the "Go-To" person for selling and supporting parts orders associated with the Service customer base. Must be able to identify technical issues to assure complete customer satisfaction through all stages of the sales process.

PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead national commercial activity and sales support to achieve specific business goals with highest priority placed on Orders Entered to fulfill capacity available and Contribution Margin objectives.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, sales team, and operations team to ensure ongoing customer satisfaction.
  • Works together with Sales, Order Handling & Project Management to ensure improving/ongoing customer satisfaction.
  • Develop and maintain vendor relationships to ensure proper support for parts sales.
  • Obtain supporting pricing and cost elements required to fulfill bid requirements.
  • Develop strategy for managing existing orders to track vendor acceptance, ship dates, and proof of delivery to customer.
  • Provide product specifications, technical support/troubleshooting and price quotations in timely fashion to existing and proactively seek and pursue potential new clients for continued growth.
  • Interface with other departments and stakeholders within Service, Components, Prolec-GE Waukesha, Inc., and outside sales representatives regarding day-to-day sales items.
  • With support from the Procurement team, responsible for developing cost and pricing for Service organization.
  • Sales follow-up on previously submitted sales quotations and requests from new customer(s).
  • Sales follow-up on completed service activities and recommended future actions.
  • Generate analytical reports for staff to support commercial review meetings.

  • Experience in bidding/proposal preparation and the ability to read and understand bid/proposal specification, both from a technical and commercial perspective, including interpretation of contractual terms and conditions
  • Worked in industrial manufacturing environment with long lead-time, engineered-to-order product

* Candidate must have knowledge of engineering project management

  • Strong analytical and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and ensure successful execution
  • CRM/ERP experience

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Required Education / Experience

  • Associate's degree in a technical field

* 3-5 years of customer facing roles

Preferred Education / Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, Electrical or Mechanical preferred.
  • 5-10 years of results-oriented experience in marketing and/or sales environment
  • Strong knowledge of the electric power industry
