The purpose of the role is to enable repeatable success and value creation in end-to-end Logistics processes and software tools. The position will lead efforts at Owens Corning to drive simplification, standardization, and automation across transportation sourcing, cost optimization, execution management, shipment visibility, carrier payments, and carrier management. This journey will require a significant shift in the many transportation and logistics processes and software tools enabling the supply chains today. The successful delivery of these goals will create a repeatable platform for continual innovation, best-in-class service levels, and on-going cost management.

Linking strategy to execution excellence, the Logistics Program Manager will provide direction, leadership, guidance, and judgement for projects within Logistics. The position requires an understanding of the Company's logistics (and adjacent) functions and work processes to support business partner requirements in an end-to-end fashion. The Logistics Program Manager/ Project Manager will be responsible for taking strategies and ideas and converting them into formal, planned, staffed and funded projects or programs. The role will own the strategic, tactical, cross-functional, and projects and programs across multiple verticals (Roofing, Asphalt, Insulation, Doors, and Composites) and functions (GIS, GBS, Supply Chain, Sourcing, Logistics, Finance, Plant Operations, etc.). The Logistics Program Manager is responsible for assuring goal alignment and error free execution.

This role requires scoping and creating strategy, project plans, and, coordinating and driving execution, and communicating to senior management on status, risks and process changes. Cross-team coordination, project management and executive presentation skills are essential. The ideal candidate will leverage extensive functional knowledge in transportation and logistics with project management experience. A successful candidate will also possess very good analytical capabilities and a keen sense of innovation. Ability to lead complex projects from conception to completion while meeting all goals. A lean/continuous improvement mindset and experience at creating standard work.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Business, Customer, & Industry Knowledge




  • Sponsor and support the logistics digital journey. Lead and manage SAP S4 TMS Design and Implementation, P44 Strategy, Mileage System Strategy, Breakthrough Fuel Platform Management. Drive the digital transformation of transportation procurement tools and processes, focusing on cross-functional collaboration, and process simplification.
  • The role requires appropriate business interactions for scoping and creating project plans, developing processes, coordinating and driving execution, communicating to various levels of management on status, risks and process and software tool changes. Cross-team coordination, project management and executive presentation skills are essential.
  • Daily interaction with multiple functional leaders and managers.
  • Meetings and interactions with key functional individuals or teams to understand operational requirements and any specific obstacles or risks relative to projects/programs managed.
  • Continuously grows understanding of the Roofing, Asphalt, Insulation, Doors, and Composites businesses, in addition to proficient understanding of the North American transportation and logistics industries.
  • Develop strong relationships with customer, carrier, 3PL, 4PL, software, and business partners outside the organization. Leverage relationships for listening and learnings, continuous improvement, and future industry strategies.
  • Monitor external transportation and logistics markets for key knowledge and information and apply to business unit interactions relative to the key deliverables and goals for the role.
  • Understand key cost/service impacts of projects/programs on each business while driving strategies to optimize and track efficiency and performance.
  • Achieve defined project/program goals and expectations, which are aligned with business goals and expectations.
  • Engage each business to share best practices and improve end to end outcomes for Owens Corning customers.
  • Knowledge of the logistics & transportation industries; SAP; Transportation Management Systems; visibility/tracking systems; related logistics tools, as well as general supply chain background are required.
  • Key contact for the implementation of SAP S4/Hana TMS across the enterprise ensuring business processes and workflows are world-class and standard, meet the business requirements, and delivers a solution optimizing cost and service delivery.

  • Central point of contact within Transportation Function for process improvement, lean/continuous improvement, software and tools deployment/enhancement/development, and cost savings projects.
  • Manage full lifecycle of complex cross-functional programs with considerable impact across multiple businesses and organizations.
  • Development of the overall program strategy, tactically driving teams in and outside of your organization to deliver.
  • Drive the implementation of continuous improvement initiatives, translating strategies into actionable work projects (thinking of this as projects like reducing RFP cycle times to implement, improving how the 4PL manages LTL, etc.). Reviewing the latest operational metrics and identifying key areas of concern as well as possible ideas to improve performance.
  • Develop, implement, and govern KPI reporting for a portfolio of programs, providing visibility to the milestones, and performance across all projects. Responsibility for Transportation Scorecard Standardization, including gathering, modeling, and KPI reporting, while working with each Business Segment to ensure progress on their KPIs.
  • Identify performance gaps and opportunities, developing new strategies and initiatives to address them, drawing on external sources for solutions to complex problems. An example might be Overall Transportation RFP and Carrier Compliance (Overall or by business or by site etc.)
  • Implement a procurement governance model and establish and communicate policies and procedures to standardize and support Buy Better, Spend Better Strategy.
  • Perform procurement-related budgeting and support other Functional or Segment needs, such as presentations to the Leadership Team
  • Conduct savings cost analysis and work with the Finance team on project cost analysis, supporting the Synergy workstreams
  • Work autonomously in an ambiguous environment, seeking to understand business problems, automation limitations, scaling factors, boundary conditions and reasons behind leadership decisions.
  • Partner with teams across the businesses you support and beyond to source, allocate, and coordinate resources. Work with program managers, business leaders and executive team to communicate and impact critical business initiatives.
  • Partner with customers and internal/external multi-functional teams to determine what projects move forward and in what priority order.
  • Oversee gaps between teams, processes and systems, helping teams reduce exposure to classic failure modes (e.g., requirements not sufficiently understood or documented, ineffective cross-team collaboration, long-term impact(s) from third-party solutions, security not considered, insufficient stakeholder review, etc.).
  • Solve ambiguous problems and proactively identify and mitigate risks before they become roadblocks.
  • Manage multiple and complex projects, using an approved methodology to guide completion and ensure outcomes.
  • Create, communicate, and manage costs for projects as well as track cost and/or service benefits.
  • Tracking of transportation transactional processes in SAP/TM and SAP S4/Hana TMS to ensure operational and administrative process are followed and continually reviewed for tuning and/or optimization based on business or competitive changes.
  • Maximizing the implementation and usage of all transportation systems and tools to drive standardization, simplification, and automation while continually increasing operational efficiencies.
  • Ensure no adverse effects on businesses, plants, warehouses, or customers.



JOB REQUIREMENTS

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:



  • Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, Finance or related field.
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in supply chain, logistics, customer solutions, software deployments, and/or transportation operations.
  • Minimum of 1-3 years of program or project management experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years of driving process improvements experience.
  • Experience owning program strategy, end to end delivery, and communicating results to senior leadership
  • Experience using data and metrics to determine and drive improvements.
  • Demonstrated experience leading and owning cross-functional programs.
  • Experience with complex organizations or navigating multiple businesses or segments.
  • Experience using Microsoft Excel including pivot tables, macros, index/match, vlookup, VBA, data links, or similar functions.
  • Ability to travel 10%



EXPERIENCE:



  • Extensive experience with formal project management in logistics/supply chain operational field.

  • A working knowledge of residential and commercial building products business practices and associated back-end logistics operational requirements.
  • Experienced in supporting multiple business units and servicing internal/external customers.
  • Proven ability to think and execute strategically.
  • Exposure to large integrated software systems (ERP, SAP, TMS, WMS).
  • Expert knowledge of project management processes, tools and techniques.
  • APICS certification preferred
