Position Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Systems Engineer to join our dynamic IT Infrastructure team. This role involves designing, implementing, and managing critical systems across multiple platforms (ie: Windows, Linux, Cloud, and SaaS systems as well as appliance-based technology (ie: SAN, Telephony, etc.) systems). This position is focused on datacenter and infrastructure platforms but some escalation from and direction to other teams (ie: Desktop, Security, Applications) is expected. Additionally, the role involves managing vendor relationships, and other duties.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in systems architecture and cybersecurity. This role requires on-call availability for overnight issues escalated from support teams and may include limited travel.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:



  • Design and maintain scalable infrastructure to support our company's growth.
  • Work within the IT infrastructure team to support servers, networks, SAN, and other technologies, resolving system issues in a timely manner.
  • Manage and maintain multiple systems, including implementing security best practices and monitoring for performance issues and potential vulnerabilities.
  • Manage Storage Area Networks (SAN) to ensure data availability and integrity.
  • Perform regular system patching and updates to maintain security and compliance, including responding to critical alerts from vulnerability scanners.
  • Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues as they arise.
  • Oversee web hosting services, including setup, configuration, and performance.
  • Manage domain name registrations and public DNS entries.
  • Ensure timely renewal of SSL/TLS certificates and manage certificate installation.
  • Implement and manage web security tools, such as Cloudflare, to protect against threats.
  • Collaborate with vendors to procure and manage IT services and products and services.
  • Work with and support escalations from other groups including Support, Development, Security/Compliance and internal customers.
  • Ensure systems are sufficiently backed up and participate in disaster recovery procedures.
  • Collaborate with the IT team to develop and execute technical strategies.
  • Conduct system performance analysis and recommend and/or implement improvements.
  • Document infrastructure designs, system configurations, and operational procedures and policies.


Education/Experience & Skills:



  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of experience in systems engineering or a similar role.
  • Proficiency with Windows and Linux operating systems.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with security frameworks and/or compliance requirements such as CMMC, NIST, ITAR, PCI and others.
  • Strong understanding of, and experience with, virtualization technologies.
  • Knowledge of fundamental networking principles and protocols (e.g., AD, DNS, DHCP, PKI).
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively.


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Broad technology experience with and a penchant for securing systems and guiding others on the importance of doing so.
  • Experience with cloud services (e.g. Azure, AWS, Google Cloud).
  • Experience with scripting languages like Bash, PowerShell, or Python.
  • Familiarity with containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Professional certifications (e.g. MCSE, RHCE, AWS Certified Solutions Architect).
  • Experience with infrastructure automation tools (e.g. Terraform, Ansible, Puppet).


Working Conditions:



  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working at a computer using a keyboard and mouse performing repetitive tasks.
  • Ability to open file cabinets, reach with hands and arms, bend, and twist, lift and move files.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
  • Must wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) where required.
  • Must comply with all work exposure EH&S training requirements and adhere to SIG SAUER Inc. Security Mandates.
