The Senior Project Development Engineer Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Engineer to join our Powertrain/New Energy Vehicle team. In this role, you will be responsible for contributing to the design, development, and implementation of bearings for automotive powertrain. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mechanical engineering and a proven track record of delivering high-quality results on past projects, with experience as a team leader or mentor preferred.

Responsibilities



  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet project requirements, including manufacturing, testing, quality assurance, and sales.
  • Promote customer enthusiasm for NSK products by providing timely, courteous, and complete technical solutions.
  • Works directly with the sales personnel to meet customers, ascertain application requirements, and provide NSK technical solutions.
  • Design and analysis of bearings for various customers automotive powertrain applications, including creation and maintaining of FMEA, design studies, design records, etc.
  • Analyze customer applications and investigates performance issues to recommend solutions that maximize value for the customer.
  • Communicate customer requirements to other NSK design and plant personnel as part of new product design review, quotation, and production launch processes.
  • Conduct research and development to improve existing products or develop new products.
  • Consult with other application engineers, team leaders and managers in the development and review of proposed technical solutions.
  • Ensure compliance with internal and industry standards, regulations, and best practices.
  • Identify and mitigate risks throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Provide technical support, training, and guidance to other to customers, end users, and team members as needed.
  • Provides technical support to business and sales leaders in support of the development of strategies for growing business for assigned customers.
  • Take part or lead Root Cause Analysis when problems arise.


Qualifications



  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related field.
  • 8+ years of experience in mechanical engineering, with a focus on design and development.
  • Proficiency in powertrain analysis tools (e.g. Romax, Masta, etc.) is preferred.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes, materials, and fabrication techniques.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Design experience and bearing technical knowledge is required.
