Denver CARES TRT Providers The following positions within Inpatient Adolescent Psychiatry, Inpatient Adult Psychiatry, Psychiatric Emergency Services, CARES, and Outpatient Behavioral Health Services are offering the opportunity to enroll in a new program offering a cash incentive to recognize your work treating patients with substance use disorders. This program is sponsored through the ACCESS (Advancing Careers, Competencies, and Equity in Substance Treatment Services) grant. Employees must be >0.6 FTE to be eligible. 50% of the bonus will be received 90 days after signing the program contract.

* Registered Nurses (RNs) may earn up to $7,500 by December 2024
* Behavioral Health Technicians (BHTs) may earn up to $3,500 by December 2024
* Care Navigators may earn up to $3,500 by December 2024 Job Summary

The Coordinator, under direct supervision, assists individuals who are chronically homeless and abusing substances develop skills
and acquire resources to live independently. The Counselor assists clients while in residential substance abuse
treatment and continue to support as the client transitions into the community. Assist clients with obtaining benefits, employment
and ultimately permanent housing.

Essential Functions:
  • Client Assessment
    Assesses client's strengths and challenges and develop individual service plan to address any necessary medical, social, employment, and housing needs in order for client to move towards independent living. Meets regularly with each assigned client, including in-home visits, to assist and provide support with service plan progress and basic life skills. Monitors assigned clients' sobriety and, when appropriate, refer for detoxification and/or treatment services. (30%)
  • Counseling
    Establishes and re-establish motivation for change following relapses. (30%)
  • Documentation
    Maintains thorough and complete records of clients' activities and progress. Enters client data into online databases. (20%)
  • Community Partner Engagement
    Researches and stays abreast of available community services and resources. Builds relationships with representatives of external community partners. Coordinates with other organizations and/or other parts of Denver Health in order to ensure clients have access to all available resources. (20%)

Education:
  • High School Diploma or GED Required

Work Experience:
  • 1-3 years Direct care experience with homeless and/or substance abuse populations Required and

Licenses:
  • DLR-Colorado Driver's License Class R - DMV - Department of Motor Vehicles Required and

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of basic counseling skills.
  • Judgment and Decision Making - Considering the relative costs and benefits of potential actions to choose the most appropriate one.
  • Critical Thinking - Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
  • Service Orientation - Actively looking for ways to help people.
  • Knowledge of community resources for homeless and low-income Denver residents.
  • Problem solving - the ability to systematically analyze problems, draw relevant conclusions and devise appropriate courses of action.
  • Knowledge of research techniques (ability to effectively determine what information is needed and then gather and analyze desired information).
  • Good communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with others.
  • Basic computer skills including Excel, Word, Outlook, and complete database input, required.
