Job Description

CyberSource Corporation, a Visa Inc. company, needs a Data Scientist (multiple openings) in Foster City, CA to

  • Work within a team to generate business insights based on big data, identify actionable recommendations and communicate the findings to clients. Brainstorm innovative ways to use our unique data to answer busines problems.
  • Communicate with clients to understand the challenges they face and convince them with data.
  • Extract and understand data to form an opinion on how to best help our clients and derive relevant insights.
  • Data extract automation, scripting, and validation.
  • Develop visualizations to make your complex analyses accessible to a broad audience.
  • Find opportunities to craft products out of analyses that are suitable for multiple clients.
  • Work with stakeholders throughout the organization to identify opportunities for leveraging Visa data to drive business solutions.
  • Mine and analyze data from company databases to drive optimization and improvement of product, marketing techniques and business strategies for Visa and its clients.
  • Assess the effectiveness and accuracy of new data sources and data gathering techniques.
  • Develop custom data models and algorithms to apply to data sets.
  • Use predictive modeling to increase and optimize customer experiences, revenue generation, data insights, and other business outcomes.
  • Position reports to the Foster City, California office and may allow for partial telecommuting.
Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics or related field and 2 years of experience in the job offered or in a data scientist-related occupation.
  • Using Python or similar programming language like R, Matlab, or Stata) to create quantitative models;
  • Using statistical and domain knowledge to optimize model performance;
  • Utilizing mathematical and statistical tools, packages and libraries like klearn, Pandas, Numpy, Jupyter Notebook or SAS) for scalable analysis and anomaly detection;
  • Building data workflows and pipelines with Apache Airflow or similar workflow frameworks, and automating workflows to optimize pipeline efficiency;
  • Generating variables to feed into Machine Learning models, and fine tuning parameters to optimize score distributions;
  • Querying large datasets at scale with Spark, Pyspark, SQL or other query language;
  • Processing and storing large datasets of gigabytes with Apache Hadoop;
  • Coordinating with engineers, data scientists and product managers to maintain distributed storage;
  • Building and enhancing internal systems to enable the collection and usage of data at scale;
  • Making data usable for analysts, engineers and product managers by appropriate storage, computation, and processing of data;
  • Experience in the domain of payment fraud and anomaly detection with complex data at scale; and
  • Experience in the domain of e-Commerce and online payment scenarios
Additional Information

Worksite: Foster City, CA

This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 2-3 set days a week (determined by leadership/site), with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% or more of the time based on business needs.

Travel Requirements: This position does not require travel.

Mental/Physical Requirements: This position will be performed in an office setting. The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers.

U.S. APPLICANTS ONLY: The estimated salary range for a new hire into this position is $129,400.00 USD to $200,500.00 USD per year, which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable). Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position may be eligible for an annual bonus and equity. Visa has a comprehensive benefits package for which this position is eligible that includes Medical, Dental, Vision, 401(k), Employee Stock Purchase Program, FSA/HSA, Life Insurance, Paid Time off and Wellness Programs.
