Position Summary:

The Clinical Outcomes Analyst is responsible for coordinating clinical effectiveness evaluations that support data-based decision-making by management and clinicians. In collaboration with interdisciplinary clinical and administrative leadership, coordinates the development, implementation, and evaluation of strategies to improve patient care within an evidence-based practice framework. Serves as a clinical expert in integration, management, analysis, and interpretation of data to support outcomes management, clinical process analysis, patient safety, case management, and performance improvement initiatives.

Competencies:

A. Education:

Bachelor's degree in Nursing, Allied Health or health related field from an accredited school. Master of science in nursing, informatics, business, or health-related field.

B. Knowledge:




  • Advanced knowledge in organizational operations and clinical process improvement.
  • In-depth understanding of clinical situations based upon practical and theoretical knowledge.
  • Advanced knowledge of information systems.
  • Advanced knowledge of information, data, and project management.
  • Proficient to advanced knowledge of health care finance.
  • Proficient to advanced knowledge of the impact of strategies to streamline and reduce variation in care on the strategic goals of the organization and the department
  • Proficient to advanced knowledge of unit operations, performance improvement, regulatory and professional standards, evidence-based practice, patient safety, and outcomes management.





C. Skills:




  • Clinical expertise in a variety of practice situations
  • Advanced interpersonal skills needed to provide leadership and promote collaborative problem solving in an interdisciplinary setting.
  • Advanced presentation skills.
  • Advanced use of software applications, i.e., relational data base and query tools, statistical tools, spread sheets, presentation tools, and word processing.
  • Proficient to advanced use of financial models, data mining/management, conversion of data into useful formats for a variety of audiences, data collection instrumentation, and aggregation of comparative clinical, financial, & administrative data.
  • Proficient to advanced evidence-based decision making skills.
  • Proficient to advanced analytic, planning, and organization skills needed to manage multiple projects or responsibilities.
  • Ability to integrate, analyze, synthesize, and summarize information to make judgments related to strategies to improve care.
  • Ability to influence and negotiate individual and group decision-making.
  • Ability to function effectively in a fluid, dynamic, and rapidly changing environment.



E. Work Experience:

Five years of clinical experience; at least two years of program/project management experience preferred.
