Overview:

Provides and/or guides care to a specialized group of patients. Serves as a clinical resource or consultant in area of specialty or expertise, assists in planning and providing educational opportunities in clinical area. Coordinates Co-worker Orientation and development. Participates in quality improvement activities. Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with our mission, values, and Mercy Service Standards.

Qualifications:

Education: Graduate from an Accredited Respiratory Care program. Bachelor's degree in Respiratory Care or other healthcare- or science-related field.

Licensure: Must have a current license in the state of practice.

Experience: Position requires at least 5 years experience in area of specialty.

Certifications: Registered as a therapist (RRT) by the National Board of Respiratory Care

Other: Must be current in BLS. Must be current in NRP/PALS if working in Neonatal/Pediatric Critical Care areas. Must be current in ACLS if working in Adult Critical Care area. Strong assessment and communication skills are necessary. The assessment, care and treatment provided by the Respiratory Clinician will be consistent with the specific age-related needs of the patient. The Respiratory Clinician is competent to care for patient age groups including the adolescent, adult, and adult geriatric patient. Computer literacy, including the use of Microsoft Office Products.

Preferred Education: Master's degree preferred. (10 years of Critical Care Experience may be considered as an alternative to a bachelor's degree.)

Preferred Certifications: NPS (Neonatal/Pediatric Specialist from the NBRC) preferred if working in Pediatric/Neonatal Critical Care area. ACCS (Adult Critical Care Specialist from the NBRC) preferred if working in Adult Critical Care area.
