GENERAL SUMMARY/ OVERVIEW STATEMENT: Summarize the nature and level of work performed. Under the direct supervision of the Principal Investigator and Research Lab Manager, the Program Manager position involves working in a fast-paced computational neuroimaging lab. The lab is comprised of faculty, postdocs, graduate students, and research assistants from different backgrounds including Neuroscience, Biomedical Engineering, Psychology, Computer Science, Math, Physics, and Biology. Using these different backgrounds, the lab develops and maintains software to analyze MRI data and performs cutting edge research in a variety of domains. For this position, the Program Manager (PM) will play a key role in research program administration, including supervision of staff, research activities, and training, in addition to managing and/or contributing towards a designated portfolio of individual research projects. The Program Manager will be responsible for participating in the development, implementation, evaluation, and revision of programs and procedures to maximize efficiency, safety and productivity, as well as act as a resource for investigators, lab members, and administrators. Principal duties may vary over time with project demands. The Program Manager will be responsible for providing managerial, logistical, and administrative direction for the lab. The Program Manager will need to exercise professionalism, have excellent communication skills, and be able to implement a vision for sustaining and growing the lab using all available resources. Research * Coordinates and manages research projects. Along with the PI, makes final decisions concerning prioritizing projects, work, and deadlines. * Reviews research methods and results from current projects. Makes recommendations for improvement and guides further research. * Interacts with potential collaborators outside of the lab to build relationships and help foster new research projects.
Data & Records Management * Writes training manuals and documentation for ongoing research projects. * Writes and/or reviews grant applications.
Administrative
* Coordinates with other offices to streamline various administrative procedures including recruiting personnel, visa applications, major purchases, promotions, and professional appointments. Human Resources

Qualifications
EDUCATION: Required - Bachelor's Degree Field of Study/Additional Specialized Training: Relevant backgrounds would be Neuroscience, Psychology, Biology, Computer Science, and/or Engineering Additional training from MGB or equivalent experience in the following categories: * Communication or Facilitation * Performance Management * Project Management EXPERIENCE: 3-5 years of experience SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY (authority to hire, promote, or terminate): Direct: 3-6 research technicians, 15-20 summer interns Indirect: 6 research technicians Professional Staff Supported: 16 faculty members and 12+ postdocs to support Non-Employees: varies by season; up to 20 FISCAL RESPONSIBILITY: Assistance managing lab and grant budgets as needed. Budget size varies. WORKING CONDITIONS: Position involves working in a fast-paced Computational Neuroimaging Lab. The lab develops and maintains software for MR image analysis and works primarily in a UNIX computer environment. The lab is responsible for several in vivo and ex vivo (human) MRI projects. The employee will work in a general office environment, wet lab environment, and MR scanner environment. The employee will work with big machinery (MRI) and wet lab machines, such as a microtome. S/he will be exposed to various histology chemicals as well as formaldehyde at levels that are not significant enough to even come close to challenging recommended safety levels.
