FOSTER CARE SUPERVISOR POSTIION SUMMARY
Full-time leadership position providing supervision, direction, and support to an established team of Foster Care Case Managers. Supports and oversees placement and supervision of children in Foster Care and corresponding efforts with the legal parents/guardians. Ensures expedient and effective permanency plans including returning home, placement with relatives, adoption, and independent living. ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Hire, train, supervise, and develop staff including initial and annual evaluations
- Ensure compliance with MDHHS, DCWL, WMPC, COA and agency policies and procedures.
- Ensure all required documentation is accurate, comprehensive, and timely.
- Provide team and weekly individual supervisory sessions.
- Promote recruitment and engagement of relatives for placement and support.
- Establish and model cross departmental teaming to ensure the effective exchange of essential information and permanency planning.
- Work in collaboration with Supervisors and Managers within the Child Welfare Division to provide leadership and support.
- Partner with the Program Managers on department PQI goals and measurements.
- Participate in the on call after hours rotation.
- Assist child welfare staff to identify placements or replacement with specific matching criteria (sibling ties, relatives, geographic location, racial identity, and best interests).
- Respond to emergency calls and crisis situations.
Supervision Received: General Direction - Plans and arranges own work. Uses a wide range of procedures to accomplish assigned objectives. Supervisory Responsibilities: Advanced supervision - Determines work assignments, priorities, and procedures for subordinates; ensuring quality and quantity of work. Holds decision making authority for employee life-cycle activities including hiring, training, promotions, and compensation. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Master's degree in human behavioral science field preferred; or a Bachelor's degree in a Human Behavioral Science field required.
- Licensed by the State of Michigan as a social worker preferred.
- Three years' work experience in a child welfare agency, a child caring institution, or an agency performing a child welfare function required.
- Foster care experience preferred.
- Valid driver's license, access to reliable transportation with adequate insurance.
- Ability to maintain flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.
