About the Job

The Mathematics and Statistics Department at the University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) invites applications for postdoctoral positions in mathematics or statistics. We are especially interested in applicants whose research interests are in applied math and statistics. These are 2-year non-tenure-track appointments. The appointment starts August 18, 2025-August 22, 2027. Applicants should be able to teach a range of different courses, show evidence of teaching excellence, and demonstrate a commitment to working with a diverse student population. Priority will be given to applicants whose research aligns with faculty at UMD.

Duties & Responsibilities include a teaching load of three courses per year, research, and service. Postdocs are also expected to help with UMD's summer bridge program which meets for approximately three weeks each summer. Teaching duties include in-class teaching, assessment, and office hours. Service duties may include meeting attendance and outreach activities.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in statistics, mathematics, or a related field awarded by the time of appointment from a regionally accredited institution.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous teaching experience at the collegiate level (including teaching assistant experience) to a diverse group of students, evidence of effective teaching, evidence of impactful scholarship in mathematics or statistics, and effective written and oral communication skills appropriate to the position.
Pay and Benefits

Pay Range: $58,656; depending on education/qualifications/experience
