JOB SUMMARY |
The Test Engineer has responsibility for the design, installation, maintenance, calibration, repair and operation of the testing equipment. Also has responsibility for training related to test equipment and electrical safety. |
PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES |
- Supports the Test Department to ensure: effective utilization of resources, equipment calibration, safe work practices, and personnel development.
- Manages installation of new equipment.
- Supervises repairs and calibration of equipment.
- Ensures customer-testing requirements are met.
- Interfaces with customers on witness testing and plant tours.
- Ensures test technicians are trained and equipped to test new controls.
- Ensures site is in compliance with IEEE and ANSI testing procedures.
- Updates or writes testing procedures for new and existing equipment.
- Designs and carry out tests to ensure test methods or equipment are suitable to the application.
- Represent WES GT at trade shows, technical seminars or commercial events.
- Prepares budgeting information for test equipment and calibration costs.
- Provides training to Quality Specialists and Operations employees on electrical and testing issues.
- Works in conjunction with Field Service, Customer, or Customer Reps to resolve field-testing issues.
- Responsible for ensuring electrical safety via the use of: interlocks, PPE, equipment design and application and test methodology.
- Keeps abreast of current state of the art in transformer testing.

- Efficiently manage multiple projects and priorities
- Demonstrate good judgment and discretion when working with confidential information
- Self-motivated.
- Strong knowledge of electricity
- Must have a strong knowledge of AC theory and circuits, electrical safety, ISO standards, and quality processes and systems.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE |
Required Education / Experience
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering
- 3-5 years of experience in the power transformer industry or an equivalent industry
- 3-5 years of manufacturing and experience conducting electrical tests
