Minimum Qualifications
Graduation from a four-year college or university with Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance with 12 credit hours of accounting coursework; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

Three (3) + years of professional experience in Accounting/Finance. The candidate must be a person of high character and integrity including a high level of professionalism with strong work ethic, organizational skills, high attention to detail, and commitment to job performance and accountability. Ability to independently research problems, make decisions, and exercise sound judgment.

Preferred Qualifications
Minimum five (5) years of experience specific to Accrual Accounting. Familiarity with financial policies and procedures. Experience with University systems and databases (Banner, Chrome River, WebFOCUS, AiM). Experience in report writing (e.g. Tableau) for the purposes of business, financial, and accounting analytics. At least two (2) years' experience at an Electric or similar Utility.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Significant duties of the position include the following:

  • Responsible for accounting functions as it relates to accounts payable and receivable, general ledger accounting, routine journal entries, payroll, cash management, inventory management, etc.
  • Perform various daily and monthly reconciliations for accounts within NRLP, as well as the University.
  • Regularly run reports utilizing Tableau for the purposes of billing and data analytics.
  • Submit Sales and Use Tax reports, 1099 forms, and regular reports to the NC Utilities Commission (NCUC).
  • Generate monthly invoices for jobs or projects.
  • Assists in maintaining Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) accounting and compliance with the NCUC.
  • Evaluate and recommend policy and procedures as it relates to the accounting and financial functions of NRLP.
  • Responsible for assisting with month-end and year-end processes, as well as annual audits.
  • Other financial and administrative support tasks as required.
  • Apply thorough knowledge of applicable information technology systems to perform the accounting duties.
  • May develop, evaluate and implement changes to accounting systems and processes.
  • Identify substantive issues and thoroughly and accurately research and analyze them.
  • May design data collection, reporting tools and financial models.
  • Prepare, disseminate and interpret financial reports.
  • Recognize respond to and may correct unusual activity.
  • Evaluate systems of control and recommend improvements/changes.
