Encova Insurance will have a need for an Intern, Automation Engineer for either our Charleston, WV or Columbus, Ohio office. This is a full-time summer internship for summer 2025 and will require someone who can work at least 40 hours per week. Start and end dates will be based on availability and business need. Must be currently enrolled and have completed at least 60 credit hours with an accredited college or university.

This role will report to Team Lead Quality Assurance.

Pay=$22.00 per hour

JOB OBJECTIVE:

The Intern, Automation Engineer is responsible for developing and implementing automated testing scripts in order to provide high quality, cost effective test coverage for new features, configurations, and regression testing. They will identify functions and features that are candidates for test automation through collaboration with the Quality Assurance Functional Testing Analysts and Agile Development Teams.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Implement automation test solutions
    • Design and execute automation and performance test scripts
    • Manage framework and test automation suite
    • Verify the readiness of the automation test suite and test environment
    • Perform automation and performance test activities according to the IT standards and policies
    • Enhance automation and performance test cases as needed due to testing issues encountered
    • Track and report software defects for review by the development team and business analysts
    • Document automation test case enhancements required for future releases
  • Participate in Automation planning
    • Identify and validate solution objects, functions, interfaces, dependencies, and integration points by collaborating with other project team members
    • Prepare automation test design and specification documentation and participate in design reviews
  • Provide Automation, Performance and Functional Test team support
    • Provide timely and concise communication of automation and performance testing status to the project team
    • Document incidents during automation and performance testing and resolution(s) applied
    • Apply selected testing tools and techniques
    • Evaluate outcomes, report results and document findings

OTHER FUNCTIONS:

  • Consult with BA/Development staff as required for effective incident resolution
  • Perform quality assurance and Functional testing activities according to planned schedules if necessary
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Must be currently enrolled and have completed at least 60 credit hours with an accredited college or university.
  • Must be actively enrolled and pursuing a degree, preferably in Computer Science or related field.
  • Classroom or working experience with a programming language such as Java, Visual Basic or any scripting languages that supports creating or enhancing automation test scripts.
  • Knowledge of SQL is a plus.
  • Understanding of Web Technologies from a Quality Assurance standpoint.
  • General understanding of the SDLC.
