Job Summary

Involves the provision of integrated and accessible primary and specialty patient care services in a clinic or center environment. Care is provided by clinicians and assistants who are accountable for addressing a large majority of personal health care needs and developing a sustainable partnership with patients. Ensures optimal patient outcomes through effective leadership and / or provision of patient care delivery in healthcare clinics or centers. Promotes shared decision-making at all levels to ensure a shared voice in practices, exchange of ideas, enhanced communication, and continually improved patient services. Management levels may also be responsible for clinic operations.

The Women's Health Primary Care Nurse Manager will manages the delivery of interdisciplinary clinical / nursing, dental and ambulatory care, facilitating the flow of patient care activities and supervision, coordination, and management of the clinical staff. May also manage practice or center management operations.

The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.

Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.

The salary range for this position is $130,800 - $274,600 (Annual Rate).

Department Description

Women's Health Primary Care includes internists, family medicine specialists and nurse practitioners with a special interest and expertise in caring for women. The practice provides comprehensive primary care with an emphasis on prevention, education and patient participation. The team collaborates with embedded specialty services to include: psychiatry, physical therapy and cardiology and, when needed, works with and refers to specialists throughout UCSF Health. Women's Health Primary Care has practices in two locations: 2356 Sutter Street and 1725 Montgomery Street.

Required Qualifications


  • Strong clinic / center patient care management skills. Practice management knowledge in scheduling, customer-service methods, regulatory compliance, accreditation requirements, and / or information technology. Broad knowledge of patient population served and the requirements for the delivery of services.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to create and maintain a climate for effective communication and collaborative decision making.
  • Strong leadership, fiscal and operations management skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with physicians, management and staff from all disciplines. Ability to create and maintain a goal-oriented climate of teamwork, collaboration and consistent achievement of objectives.
  • Knowledge of relevant healthcare information technology (APEX)and patient care workflows and processes.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of relevant regulatory requirements, as well as related legislative, accreditation, licensing and compliance environments.
  • Proven ability to organize, manage multiple priorities, and delegate work functions efficiently.
  • Knowledge of current and emerging best practices and technologies in the clinic / center healthcare industry.
  • Willingness to work in multiple locations in the San Francisco area
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing required.

Preferred Qualifications


  • 3-5 years' experience as a Registered Nurse in an Ambulatory Practice
  • Spanish or Chinese-speaking.
  • Master's Degree preferred.
  • LEAN leader training

License/Certification


  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing required.
  • Registered Nurse in the State of California and / or licensure in relevant clinical specialty.
  • Current American Heart Association CPR Certification
