Engineering Technician Employment Type: Contract Yoh Scientific is actively recruiting for an Engineer Technician to work a contract assignment located in Pleasanton, California. Title: Engineering Technician Duration of Contract: 5 months, with potential for extension but not a guarantee Pay Rate: $35 - $47/hour Work Schedule: Full-time, M-F
Engineering Technician will play a crucial role in the laboratory setting, supporting scientists and engineers in various aspects of biotechnology research and development. Scope of work typically includes (but not limited) the following tasks: Laboratory Operations and Prototype Maintenance
- Equipment:
inspection, cleaning, calibration and operation of Engineering lab equipment, such as centrifuges, thermal cyclers, and PCR engineering devices including prototypes. - Reagent preparation:
Preparing buffers, instrument consumables and media required for experiments and tests. - Laboratory organization:
Maintaining a clean, neat organized, and safe laboratory environment.
Instrument Development
- Experimental setup:
Hands-on support to R&D engineers in setting up experiments, test bed setups and assembly, including preparing plates, reagents, always following laboratory and company protocols. - Data collection:
Recording experimental data, making and documenting observations, and maintaining accurate laboratory records.
Quality Control and Assurance
- Documentation:
Maintaining detailed documentation of experimental procedures and report to results, and quality control data. - Compliance:
Adhering to laboratory safety regulations, good laboratory practices (GLP), and quality management systems (QMS).
Technical Support
- Troubleshooting:
Identifying and helping to resolve technical issues with equipment or experimental procedures and communicates to the technical team.
Requirements for the Engineering Technician includes:
- Minimum of an Associate's degree with preference in an Engineering discipline (Mechanical, Electrical, Biotech)
- 10+ years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience in the tech industry. Working knowledge of instrumentation and lab equipment, Electrical/Mechanical assembly, PCBA rework (desired), experience using hand tools and measurement equipment (a must), Harness Build (a must).
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with ability to change directions, must be able to quickly adapt and execute in a short notice.
- Must have experience working with quality systems, cGMP, GLP procedures.
- Must be able to operate lab/test equipment and to apply common sense to carry out basic written or oral instructions.
- Must be a team player and essential project contributor with high organizational skills.
- Must be able to take ownership and responsibilities of assigned workstreams.
- Be able to drive and navigate through complex tasks with minimal supervision, always putting quality first with high attention to detail.
- Must be able to work collaboratively with Scientists, R&D Engineers, Product Support and other team members to achieve project goals. Always maintain a high level of communication
- Must be proficient at troubleshooting problems to the component level and performing root cause analysis of the failure.
