Job Summary:

The Payroll Tax Analyst is responsible for ensuring payroll tax withholding and reporting. This includes federal, multi-state, and local payroll tax compliance, maintaining accurate records on employee tax data, preparing payroll tax returns, and other related functions.

Responsibilities:

  • Researches and resolves multi-state payroll inquiries and related issues. Works closely with team members to ensure accurate multi-state payroll configuration.
  • Assures proper tax treatment of foreign nationals; monitors tax status, applies tax treaties and ensures proper payroll taxes are withheld.
  • Run and analyze weekly payroll queries to correct problems and ensure accuracy prior to payroll confirmation.
  • Interact with and assist other departments regarding taxation and documentation requirements
  • Participate in the year end processing of W-2 and 1042-S forms, including form corrections and reissues.
  • Assist with the updating of documentation of payroll tax procedures.
  • Respond to and resolve employee inquiries involving payroll tax issues.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Two years working in a higher education environment, preferably in payroll or other related experience.
  • Understanding of multi-state and foreign national tax processing.
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal communication skills.

Target hiring range for this position will be between $67,000-$70,000 per year. Offered salary will be determined by the applicant's education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data
