DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Carpenter 1, you will be part of our Carpentry Shop Team, maintaining 40 buildings at our facility that spans 152 acres of land. You will be performing skilled work in the construction, installation, maintenance, and repair of buildings throughout the facility. Duties include but are not limited to tasks such as removing damaged materials, preparing work areas, repairing, and installing doors and windows, painting and refinishing furniture. You will construct and install materials according to dimensional requirements and specifications, read blueprints and drawings, create preliminary work sketches, and select appropriate tools and materials. All work must be completed in a neat and professional manner, using proper tools and materials for each assignment. During the course of work, all necessary safety precautions must be observed to protect patients, staff, and visitors, with work areas cleaned, secured, and returned to original condition upon completion of assignment.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment.
- Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- Weekend work every 12th week; 12-person weekend work rotation; on-call holidays.
- Overtime - as needed and subject to emergency call-in.
- This position is an Essential Employee.
- Travel - as needed.
- Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Successful completion of the Building Trades Trainee program (commonwealth title); or
- Three years of experience in the construction, installation, repair, restoration, or maintenance of structures and articles made from wood, composite, and wood substitute materials; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training.
Other Requirements:

- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
Legal Requirements:
- You must pass a background investigation.
- A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination.
- This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
- Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
