DESCRIPTION

The Director of Learning Programs serves as the programmatic and operational leader for Campus staff learning programs at UC San Diego, with a focus on professional development and people leadership programs. In partnership with the Senior Director of Organization Effectiveness, the Director of Learning Programs will lead a team responsible for creating sustainable, scalable, and inclusive learning programs that empower staff to excel in their roles. This role is both forward-thinking and practical, combining strategic vision with tactical execution. The Director of Learning Programs will develop and execute strategic planning for our approach to staff learning, and will design, deliver and scale new programs as well enhance effectiveness of existing offerings, including working with internal and external partners to develop an enterprise learning evaluation strategy. The Director of Learning Programs will apply expertise in organizational development to design programs that enhance the capabilities, performance, and adaptability of staff across the university and will lead change management initiatives to support the successful implementation of learning programs, ensuring that staff embrace and adapt to new approaches. This position will operate from a continuous improvement orientation and will lead innovation efforts throughout the learning landscape.

This position is highly skilled in every aspect of the ADDIE process (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation), with an especially expert ability in the analysis, design and evaluation approaches. The Director of Learning Programs will always center inclusion and belonging in every aspect of our curricula and approach, partnering closely with colleagues in VC-EDI to develop highly effective, sustainable approaches to inclusive excellence through staff learning opportunities. This position will develop and maintain strategic partnerships with stakeholders across campus, including leadership at all levels of the organization, learning partners, subject matter experts and clients as well as our partners in Campus and Health HR. The Director of Learning Programs will lead our university-wide Learning Community of Practice and help align and guide the efforts of our Training Governance groups.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Thorough knowledge of organization and system operations, protocols and procedures.

  • Demonstrated leadership and management skills required to lead subordinates, in the areas of staff performance and development, team building and communications, resolution of issues and conflicts, review and approval of work, and hiring and training employees.

  • High degree of diplomacy, influential and interpersonal skills to work effectively across the organization at all levels.

  • Proven ability to interpret and communicate, both verbally and in writing, complex information in a clear and concise manner.

  • Demonstrated competency with and commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion.

  • Mandated Reporter: This position has been identified as a Mandated Reporter pursuant to the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and requires immediate reporting of physical abuse, sexual abuse, emotional abuse, or neglect of anyone under the age of 18. It is the responsibility of the Mandated Reporter to ensure that they obtain proper training in order to fulfill their reporting responsibilities as required by the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and University policy, and to complete and submit the required reports to the UC San Diego Police Department without delay.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $116,000 - $224,200 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $55.56 - $107.38

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
