General Information:

The University Health Center provides a comprehensive array of health care services and health education programs to JMU students. Included in our health care services are several medical clinics, a pharmacy, a medical laboratory, and other programs that provide services for more than 30,000 patient encounters a year. UHC practices evidence-based medicine in a confidential, inclusive environment.

Duties and Responsibilities:



  • Assists staff with the installation, configuration, and ongoing usability of desktop computers, peripheral equipment and software within established standards and guidelines
  • Works with vendor support contacts to resolve technical problems with desktop computing equipment and software
  • Creates desktop/laptop computer images
  • Works with the Help Desk and Network Operations staff to determine and resolve problems received from clients
  • Interacts with numerous computer platforms in a multi-layered client server environment
  • Trains and orients staff on the use of hardware and software
  • Prepares installation instructions and end-user documentation
  • Recommends and/or performs upgrades on systems to ensure longevity
  • Assists with researching and testing of new software, new versions of existing software, mobile technologies, and other emerging technologies.
  • Able to understand report creating.


Qualifications:

Required:



  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Experience troubleshooting networked devices
  • Experience troubleshooting desktops and their peripherals
  • Experience with Windows and MAC operating systems and mobile devices
  • Ability to prepare and install software packages
  • Ability to identify and resolve problems associated with operating system malfunctions



Additional Considerations:



  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Experience with HTML writing and editing
  • Ability to understand and follow detailed written and oral instructions
  • Ability to explain instructions and guidelines to others effectively
  • Ability to create end-user documentation
  • Ability to create reports
