Lab Aide - 1st and 2nd shift
needed for a contract opportunity with Yoh Scientific's client located in San Diego, CA.
This position will be for a major biotech company,
and requires someone with a minimum high school diploma, college level science courses are a plus.
Shifts available:
- 1st shift (6 am - 2:30 pm) Sunday - Thursday
- The last 30 minutes of shift (2pm-2:30pm) is 2nd shift differential which is 5% of base rate, $19.75/hr
- 2nd shift (2 pm - 10:30 pm) Sunday - Thursday
- 2nd shift differential is 5% of the base rate of $19.75/hr. The last 30 minutes of the shift (10pm-10:30pm) will be 3rd shift differential which is 10% of base pay rate.
Key Responsibilities
- Responsible for accessioning of genotyping samples
- Takes responsibility and ownership for timely and quality completion of work
- Highly productive/efficient/effective in the lab

- Responsible for training new personnel
- May own a portion of process improvement efforts
- Seeks help in prioritization of assigned activities
- Scheduling
- Administer bi-annual and annual competencies for Genotyping accessioning staff
- Act as area expert in the absence of supervisor
- Become proficient in automated technology required for Genotyping accessioning
- Be able to make key decisions involving the genotyping accessioning process
- Be able to recognize when to escalate issues encountered in the lab
- Strong ability and knowledge of process to be able to troubleshoot
- Takes a multi-disciplinary approach to problem-solving
- Able to contribute in investigation and resolution of technical problems
- Sets standards for excellence
- Establishes criteria and/or work procedures to achieve a high level of quality and productivity

- Can mentor junior members of the team in laboratory activities
- Ability to perform PRG, DDP plate (s) and Embark plate (s) sample send back process.
- Follows the laboratory's procedures for specimen handling, preparation, receipt and data entry in to DPS or LIMS
Qualifications
- Minimum high school diploma, college level science courses are a plus
- Knowledge of SDS (safety data sheets) for relevant chemicals.
- Ability to multitask; individual initiative; independent thought; ability to work in collaborative teams
- Excellent problem-solving skills and comfort with instrumentation
