POSITION SUMMARY

The Human Resources Manager will partner with leaders and support the execution of strategic plans, programs, and initiatives. The HR Manager is directly responsible for the overall administration, coordination, and activities of the operational human resources function including employee relations, performance management, safety, benefits administration, recruitment and retention, new employee orientation and on-boarding, EEO and new hire reporting, and coordination of company events at the facility.

Primary Responsibilities include:

  • Hands-on execution of all site HR functions.
  • Partner with leaders to help drive business performance using sound HR knowledge in the areas of workforce planning, change management, employee productivity, recruitment and selection, and employee relations.
  • Counsel managers and employees consistent with policies/practices, legal considerations, etc., and facilitate resolution of employee relations issues.
  • Implement and execute employee relations programs/practices that create a positive organizational culture and enable management effectiveness.
  • Roll out and drive corporate programs (policies, development, employee engagement, etc.)
  • Continuously assess the effectiveness of all human resources programs relative to the achievement of desired goals and outcomes and the overall business plans.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
  • Assist management in the creation of career development plans that foster growth, based on performance reviews, Talent Review, etc.
  • Develop, coordinate, and manage training initiatives; annual Talent Review, leadership development, employee skills training, and development.
  • Coordinate and manage the performance management process, and drive management in the execution of performance-related action plans.
  • Schedule meetings and ensure an HR presence with "off-shift" employees (2nd and 3rd shift).
  • Serve as a strategic partner to the Plant Manager and the leadership team, responsible for ensuring functional alignment with the business strategies and strategic initiatives.
  • Represent function on the business unit's leadership team, providing appropriate input in key annual strategic processes.
  • Develop and execute a strategic recruitment plan designed to institutionalize the continuous improvement of the business' talent pool.
  • Deliver a recruitment plan that aligns with business objectives, and incorporates traditional and non-traditional recruitment sources to attract and introduce qualified diverse candidates to the organization.
  • Manage and execute the recruitment process; advertising, job descriptions, applicant screening, interview scheduling, and reference checks.
  • Manage and develop relationships with recruitment agencies (temporary and permanent placement).
  • Develop, manage, and maintain new employee onboarding process.
  • Maintains and manages HRIS, payroll systems, time and attendance systems, and ensures data integrity.
  • Support the corporation's benefits team with the coordination and management of benefits plans; annual open enrollment, and issue resolution.
  • In conjunction with the site's safety committee, the HR Manager will implement best-demonstrated safety practices to mitigate risk, reduce exposure, and effectively manage claims.
  • Serve as the group's Safety & Risk Management Officer.
  • Partner with leadership to manage all required and agreed-upon safety programs and training.
  • Act as liaison with Worker's Compensation insurer to manage all worker's compensation claims to closure.
  • Supervise and develop staff within the Human Resources Department.
  • Train new employees that are hired in the work area assigned
  • Advanced knowledge of the field

  • Be accessible for employees to ask questions regarding areas of expertise
  • Provide positive recognition to employees who exhibit good behavior in their work area
  • Provide feedback to managers on individual and team performance
  • Performs other related duties as required and assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES (If applicable)

  • Manage one employee; the Human Resources Generalist and the Recruiting Coordinator report to this role.
  • Monitor employee productivity and provide constructive feedback, coaching, counseling, and disciplining; conduct training; implement enforcing systems, policies, and procedures.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; and reviewing professional publications.
  • Maintains staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees; maintaining a safe, secure, and legal work environment; developing personal growth opportunities.
  • Communicates job expectations; planning, monitoring, and assessing job results; coaching, and counseling employees; developing, coordinating, and enforcing systems, procedures, and productivity standards.
  • Establishes strategic goals; identifies and evaluates trends; chooses a course of action; defines objectives; evaluates outcomes.
  • Lead and support a food safety and food quality culture within the location
  • Establish, document, and communicate to all relevant staff of food safety and quality objectives and performance measure
  • Empower and encourage employees to act to resolve food safety and quality issues within their scope of work
  • Implement, maintain, and continuously improve the food safety and quality culture within the location
  • Effectively communicate all key performance indicators and objectives to employees
  • Ensure staffing and adequate resources are maintained to meet objectives
  • Educate all staff to understand the importance of food safety and food quality controls and deviation consequences.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Minimum Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree in Business, Human Resources or related field with five plus (5+) years of progressive HR generalist experience, with two plus (2+) years at the management level; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Additional Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in the food/beverage industry
  • Previous experience in Manufacturing or production environment.
  • Experience in report writing
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Must be detailed oriented and have the ability to multi-task
  • Proven organizational skills
  • Must have excellent time management skills
  • Professional in Human Resources (PHR) or Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR), or the ability to obtain certification.
  • Ability to direct, coach and train others.
  • Consultative, influential, strategic thinking and problem-solving skills.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORKING CONDITIONS

This position requires sufficient physical ability to work in a typical office setting; driving a motor vehicle and occasionally working in the field.

FREQUENT: sitting, upward and downward flexion of neck; fine finger dexterity and light to moderate finger pressure to include extended periods of keyboard and mouse use, side-to-side turning of neck, walking, standing, bending and stooping, pushing/pulling, twisting at waist, moderate wrist torque to twist equipment knobs and dials.

OCCASIONAL: squatting, kneeling, reach above and at shoulder height, moderate grasp to manipulate reference books and manuals; lifting objects weighing up to 50 pounds from below waist to above shoulders and transporting distances up to 50 feet.

VISION: Ability to see in the normal visual range with or without correction.

HEARING: Ability to hear in the normal audio range with or without correction.
