The Broward County Board of County Commissioners is seeking qualified candidates for International Economic Development Specialist.
General Description Performs high level advanced professional work performing a wide range of business and economic development tasks, inclusive of international related activities. Works independently, under limited supervision, reporting major activities through periodic meetings. The Office of Economic and Small Business Development is seeking a highly qualified individual to serve as a member of the Economic Development team as an International Trade Specialist. The desired candidate is skilled in creating global relationships and economic development initiatives.
The incumbent will serve the office in providing high level support of the International Program, supporting the office with furthering the County's position as a Global Hub for the Americas for foreign investment, providing international trade technical assistance, and increasing trade opportunities for Broward businesses.
While performing the necessary duties, this position will ensure all projects and related administrative tasks are handled professionally and timely, make sound decisions, using tact, composure, confidentiality, discretion, and effective communication skills in accordance with the Broward County International Protocol. This position will attend meetings, provide logistic support for International workshops, and follow-up action correspondence.

Duties and Responsibilities
The functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the job as necessary.
- Prepares, coordinates and monitors documents and agreements, renewals, amendments through execution.
- Maintains international economic development files/records.
- Researches and develops reports on international trade data and statistics, policies, incentives and economic impact.
- Assists in the implementation of international trade programs and plans, initiatives and projects; facilitates the completion of required procedural documentation to effectuate project completion.
- Monitors, evaluates and recommends international trade goals and action programs in the work plan to achieve stated objectives; conducts meetings/workshops with the business community; prepares and presents international trade reports and information.
- Performs related work as assigned.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Requires a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in business, public administration, economics, urban planning, law or related field.
Requires two (2) years in economic development including international experience or closely related experience.
Special Certifications and Licenses
None.
Preferences
- Master's degree from an accredited college or university in business, public administration, international affairs, economics, urban planning, law or related field.
- Bilingual (Spanish, Creole, Portuguese, other)
- Two (2) years or more public sector experience
- International Economic Development Council (IEDC) or related certification
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

General Classification The functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Provides one-on-one counseling and business assistance to Broward County entrepreneurs and small business; conducts on-site business visitations and meetings to identify needs and provide assistance. Researches industry sector economic data for reports and presentations; produces reports and presentations; speaks at various events; participates and attend industry conferences, meetings, conventions, and workshops. Participates in employee development and business assistance facilitator training courses. Serves as staff liaison to the business community providing assistance to facilitate efficient business/County relationships; coordinates a variety of activities related to business development, expansion and retention. Prepares, coordinates and monitors documents on new leases, renewals, amendments through execution; Maintains Economic Development files/records. Researches and develops long term objectives, strategies and approaches to urban redevelopment and revitalization, business incentives and economic impact. Assists in the implementation of economic development plans, initiatives and grant projects; facilitates the completion of required procedural documentation to effectuate project completion. Monitors, evaluates and amends goals and action programs in the work plan to achieve stated objectives; conducts meetings/workshops with the business community; prepares and presents economic development plans and information. Performs related work as assigned.
