What You Will Do:
As the Area Construction Manager, you be responsible for providing direction and leadership on multiple projects locally and identifying opportunities to further grow Gannett Fleming's presence in the region. You will develop and lead strategic and tactical operational initiatives in with the goal of meeting sales and revenue targets, developing client relationships focused on project execution. The Area Construction Manager will work from the Seattle office At a high level, your focus will include:
- Recruiting and hiring a solid construction management group.
- Developing and mentoring a team, promoting collaborative, collective problem-solving, and a culture that fosters teamwork and effective communication.
- Participate in and oversee bid reviews for projects regionally, reviewing and negotiating agreements and contracts.
- Developing and maintaining successful client/owner and JV Partner relationships, functioning as project sponsor, participating and actively contributing in all owner meetings, ensuring win-win outcomes that are best for the project and business.
- Provide leadership and guidance to the project managers and support staff assigned to projects, ensuring all projects progress, on schedule and within budget.
- Take full responsibility for ensuring the most effective utilization of all resources regionally
- Review weekly and monthly project status reports and evaluate that schedules and plans meet the required project performance goals.
- Assemble project teams, leveraging internal resources as well as external through existing resource network.
- Oversee project cost controls, budgets, invoicing, estimates and project forecasts and provide regular updates to management, with an emphasis on profit, positive cash flow, and timely project closeout procedures.
- Where necessary, take a lead role in resolving any contractual, legal and/or compliance issues with owners, JV partners or suppliers.
- Be a champion in the implementation of new policies and procedures across your group to improve efficiencies and workflow, directly overseeing the change management process.
Education | Experience:
- A Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering and/or Construction Management or related field from an accredited institution or equivalent training and experience is required
- Professional registration as a PE in Washington or the ability to obtain licensure within six (6) months OR CCM with the experience below.
- 15+ years of proven Project Management experience in the AEC industry
- Substantial experience on large scale heavy civil projects (bridges, roads, highways, rail etc.) is preferred
- Solid relationships with Pacific Northwest clients ( Washington DOT) leadership
- Knowledge to build a strong construction management group is required
- Proven success in delivering high quality projects on time and on budget
- Demonstrated negotiation skills and ability to represent all project matters on behalf of the Company and/or Joint Venture related to cost, schedule & contract matters with owner, partners and/or subcontractors
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Proven ability to work through and overcome conflicts productively, while maintaining professionalism at all times
