Wellesley MA Full time R0013644 The Assistant or Associate Director, Graduate Career Advisor provides career advising and coaching to graduate students in the FW Olin School for Business. This role will provide career services for MBA and MSBA students. Specific responsibilities include providing career coaching, via one on one appointments in person or virtual, small group and larger group sessions for both 1st and 2nd year MBAs. Coaching includes all aspects of career advising including career strategy, networking, interviewing, negotiation, and professional branding feedback, online resource education and career support for a students' career journey. They are responsible for partnering with student clubs, centers, faculty and alumni. WHAT YOU WILL DO Manage MBA and MSBA student appointments with overall responsibility for career preparation which includes coaching students regarding self-assessment, career exploration and goal setting, and networking job search strategies. Provide advanced resume and cover letter feedback; professional use of social media, and coaching on behavioral and case interview preparation. Partner with GradCCD Advisors who meet with MBA students for 1st and 2nd year focused career education. Maintain current knowledge of trends and activities in job and career readiness for FT MBA students and MSBA students. Collaborate with CCD team members on multiple projects aligned with departmental strategy including but not limited to developing strategy in support of employer relationships nd graduate student advising. Document student activity within GradCCD Internal Team site and CCD portal on a regular and timely basis. Participate in Career Assessment for students utilizing tools such as StrengthsFinder, Career Leader, MBTI and other assessment instruments. Assist employer engagement to leverage existing corporate partnerships, alumni, faculty, & other advocates as well as lead generation of new opportunities.
Represent the Center for Career Development at external and internal functions as appropriate. Participate in off-campus professional organizations and initiatives as assigned by the Director. Assume additional responsibilities and special projects as required and requested by the Director. YOUR TEAM WILL INCLUDE N/A WHAT EDUCATION AND SKILLS YOU WILL NEED Master's degree At least 2-3 years of experience is required to be considered for the Assistant Director level At least 5-7 years of experience is required to be considered for the Associate Director level Must have previous career coaching or advisory experience. Must have excellent business development and relationship management skills including interpersonal, follow through and execution. Must have experience teaching and advising international students. Must have strong customer service orientation with dedication to high touch, personalized approaches with domestic and international students. Must be proactive, self-motivated, self-starter/entrepreneurial spirit and ability to work in fast paced environment. Must have excellent oral, presentation, and written communication skills. Ability to work with all constituencies and a be a team player and collaborator. Must have an eye for detail, project management skillset and innovative spirit. Must have strong technology skills including Outlook, Webex, Microsoft Office Suite; Salesforce is a plus. Envisions and proposes new methods to perform tasks that support innovation; takes thoughtful risks; and accepts new and ongoing initiatives, objectives, and solutions to gain sought-after results. Anticipates and embraces change; demonstrates willingness to achieve, acquire, and utilize new skills and challenging tasks; and is flexible in changing conditions. Must have strong technology skills including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, GoogleSuite, PowerPoint and Outlook), Sales Force or comparable CRM systems. HOW AND WHERE YOU WILL WORK Requires some evening and occasional weekend work as well as some travel. Must have had a valid unrestricted U.S. Driver's License for one year, and maintain throughout employment an insurable (as determined by the College's insurer's criteria) or a satisfactory driving record; must successfully complete and pass the College's vehicle training program within the first 60 days of employment; annual or more frequent review of employee's driving record based on the College insurer's criteria; and safety training as required by management. ADDITIONAL SKILLS YOU MAY HAVE Experience in higher education and/or counseling a plus. Familiarity with tech and business analytics a plus. Business background strongly preferred.
