Preferred Qualifications |
Competitive incumbents should have professional experience managing tasks and responsibilities associated with the promotion and tenure process. This is a security-sensitive position. This role addresses issues of a confidential nature and will need to use discretion effectively.

Position Summary |
The Office of Faculty Affairs (
OFA), a unit within the Office of the Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost, provides support for faculty and oversight of faculty-related policies for the institution. The Faculty Affairs Transaction Process Lead serves as the project manager of the annual promotion and tenure process as well as manages transactions related to special appointment and other requests that route through
OFA throughout the career lifecycle of a faculty member at the University. The position serves as the principal point of contact and liaison with internal and external constituencies on those matters. The incumbent is expected to present a positive attitude and initiative to take primary responsibility with other processes and projects as needed to enhance the promotion, tenure, and special appointments operations of the Office of Faculty Affairs. This position reports directly to the Director of Faculty Affairs Operations. |

Serves as Project Manager for the annual Faculty Promotion & Tenure (P&T) process:
- Manages the processes and procedures for the full P&T cycle with support from the Faculty Data and Business Intelligence Lead, central offices, and academic units including organization of the initial charge meeting, facilitiation of URC and UAC committee actions, communication, and reporting.
- Fields policy and procedure questions regarding the promotion and tenure process, tenure probationary extensions, and related topics from units throughout the year.
- Coordinates subsequent levels of review through the Provost's and President's offices by maintaining workflow status in the Promotion and Tenure Portal.
- Partners with the Programming Team on promotion and tenure workshops.
- With support from the Faculty Data and Business Intelligence Lead, works on process improvement initiatives in the portal including future plans to expand the scope of use in the coming year.

Manages and facilitates the transactional steps for requests and correspondence regarding special appointments and employment actions requiring approval from the Associate Provost for Faculty Affairs, Vice Provost for Academic Affairs, Provost, President, and/or Board of Regents (
BOR):
- Ensures completeness of requests and works closely with staff in the academic units, UGA Foundation, Provost's Office, President's Office, and University System of Georgia to coordinate approvals.
- Notifies stakeholders regarding approvals and updates records.
- Manages titles and appointees in the Special Titles section of OneUSG Connect.
- Updates the Endowed Positions OFA website with new faculty appointments and new establishments.
- Develops, proposes, and implements process improvement and tracking systems for these approvals.

Coordinates communications, transactions, and workshops/meetings related to primary job duties as part of the Operations Team:
- Contributes on special projects and assignments at the direction of the Director of Faculty Affairs Operations and the Associate Provost for Faculty Affairs.
- Serves as process and communications lead for the annual contract renewal and non-renewal process.
- Initiates Admin Memos and/or Archnews regarding faculty contracts, promotion and tenure, post-tenure review, faculty annual evaluation, instructor of record/faculty credentialing, and other policy and process reminders in collaboration with the Director of Communication for Academic Affairs to aid in communicating to Administrators.
- Maintains records including, but not limited to, Performance Remediation Plans, Performance Improvement Plans, non-renewal notifications, resignations/retirements, and other faculty transactions.
