The Channing Division of Network Medicine- Informatics Management Systems Core:

Quality Assurance for LIMS Administration
The Bioinformatics group at the Channing Division of Network Medicine providesinformatics level support to the Systems Genetics and Genomics lab to help them withtheir data storage, biorepository, genotyping requirements and the researchers and Principal Investigators with their analysis, data management and other research needs.

The group is looking for a Software Quality Assurance Analyst to help build the Test Case and Documentation framework for the several Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) administration used by the Bioinformatics Group. The candidate shouldalso be willing to work on Web Administration projects as needed and when assigned.

Qualifications

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Ensure that code, data definitions and structures as well as other changes are migrated through our development environment, tested and deployed to production in an approved manner. Manage and coordinate the release documentation.
  • Work closely with our developers (databases and software engineers) and Laboratory Managers.
  • Manage dependencies to ensure risks are mitigated and issues are communicated. The goal is to consistently and efficiently produce a quality product.
    Create test cases in accordance with specifications. Participate in test planning and test data preparation. Report issues thru the company bug tracking system and validate fixes.
    Work with Lab Managers to develop optimized Standard Operating Procedures for the Laboratory Information Management System software.
  • Test new SOPs and confirm their functionality.
    Work as part of an administration team for updating both static and dynamic content on websites.


QUALIFICATIONS:



  • Bachelor degree and experience with data cleaning, processing and integration with Databases.
  • Experience testing web based applications.
  • Experience with Python, HTML, Java, SQL preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential.
  • Experience wth regression, functionial and system testing, software QC process, and test planning is preferred.
  • Cellular or Molecular biology background and / or LIMS software development is an asset to this position



SKILLS/ ABILITIES/ COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:



  • A sense of accountability for all project work assigned to the individual and team.
  • Ability to work independently and adapt to an ever-changing environment.
  • Experience with QA Principles and Software Development Life Cycle process improvement practices.
  • Expertise in problem solving and tracking bug reports using bug tracking tools.
  • Strong communication skills (verbal/written) with the ability to articulate themselves succinctly to a variety of audiences (Project Manager, Technical specialists, Developers, End-users, etc)
