The Position

This position will coordinate the various sites utilized by the ESL programs that are being conducted by the Workforce and Professional Education Department through the workplace literacy grant. This position will work with the designated ESL Instructors and by preparing designated rooms prior to their arrival as needed. Assist with coordination of the classes, attendance rosters, and ensure materials are distributed.

Classification: Non-Affiliated Administrator

Staff Duration: Part-time, 12-month


What You Will Do

  1. Provide on-site logistical, technical and content support to instructors and students at the multiple classroom sites.
  2. Travel between the multiple sites.
  3. Attends and oversees all assigned scheduled ESL programs hosted by the Workforce & Professional Education Department.
  4. Manage site material and tool usage.
  5. Prepares the reserved/designated rooms prior to the arrival of the ESL Instructors. Ensure all doors are unlocked & open by coordinating with on-site security department or designee, clean off testing area desks if needed, turn on all computers if needed, ensure they are working properly, and always set to the home screen for internet access.
  6. Assist with basic technology issues and ability to troubleshoot as needed. Ability to multi-task.
  7. Collaborates and effectively communicates to assist with general questions that the designated ESL Instructor(s) and/or students may have.
  8. Be present in designated area while ESL program sessions are taking place in case assistance is needed.
  9. Log and submit rooms utilized, any site trouble that needs to be further addressed; computer not working; missing a mouse; keyboard issues, to designated OCC Workforce Department personnel.
  10. Communicate regularly with management regarding the site's progress and needs.
  11. Related duties and projects as assigned.

The Successful Candidate Must Have

  1. Associate's degree from an accredited college.
  2. Two years of experience performing comparable work, preferably in an educational setting.
  3. Ability to handle multiple related tasks and communicate well with others.
  4. Prior experience using technology.
  5. Available to work evening and weekend hours on or off campus.
  6. Bilingual (Spanish).

Even Better If You Have

  1. Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
  2. Prior experience working with ESL programs.
