Job Summary

The Clinical Research Coordinator (CRC) will perform a variety of roles on research projects that focus on early intervention in psychosis, conducted in the dynamic clinical research laboratory of Dr. Rachel Loewy. They will primarily (but not exclusively) work on a project developing a Learning Healthcare Network, which is a stakeholder-driven collaboration between early psychosis programs across the state of California designed to measure and improve healthcare outcomes. It is coordinated with a national Early Psychosis Intervention Network.

This project will utilize both quantitative and qualitative research methods to: 1) evaluate the cost and utilization of services in early psychosis clinics and counties across California; 2) develop a new measure for assessing how long someone has experienced psychosis prior to entering treatment, for use in front-line community clinics, and 3) develop learning collaboratives, training and supervision services to support community clinics and improve the quality of their services. Other projects in Dr. Loewy's lab range from studies of biomarkers related to psychosis onset, screening for early psychosis and novel interventions for early psychosis. This position may be particularly interesting to individuals who wish to pursue a career in community-partnered and health services research.

Under the supervision of the Research Supervisor or Principal Investigator (PI), the CRC will manage a variety of administrative research operations critical to these studies including: coordinating participant recruitment, scheduling research participant appointments while coordinating with staff, clinicians, creating and maintaining research documents and record systems; providing data support; ordering study supplies; and liaising with internal finance offices to arrange purchases, payments, and reimbursements.

Other duties may include, but will not be limited to: acting as intermediary between services and departments while overseeing data and specimen management; creating, cleaning, updating, and managing databases and comprehensive datasets and reports; coordinating staff work schedules; and training Assistant CRCs and volunteer Research Assistants. The CRC will also support the PI with her grant proposals, grants management, publications and manage protocols in the Committee on Human Research (CHR) online system, as well as renewals and modifications of protocol applications and the implementation of new studies.

The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.
